"Love and tolerate" is a meme of the fandom, not a slogan from the show. Its original use was ironic, as in "if you don't like us, we bronies will lover and tolerate the $hit out of you." I don't doubt that most fans and all the creative team are liberals (just as with all entertainment) but the show is not about homosexuality or sexuality of any kind whatsoever. It's for children and their parents. Other adults simply like it as well.

There’s something odd about GROWN MEN who dress up in ‘My Little Pony’ costumes and attend ‘Brony’ conventions with other GROWN MEN.
I’m not talking about the kids and their parents who like this show.
But it’s another thing all together for adults to dress in costume and attend a convention with other adults.
Doesn’t that strike you as odd?
