There is nothing wrong with crossing your sevens and your zees when you are in science and engineering. Very easy to look similar to a two without that. I got into the habit when I was in college. BME, MSME.
Also helpful when you’re scribbling a lot of notes longhand, like making an inventory.
Nothing like getting back to your desk after a day in the field, pulling out your notes (usually scribbled on a legal pad), and repeatedly asking yourself “Is that a seven, a two, a Z...??????”
