(CBS News) CBS News has learned that the NCAA will announce what a high-ranking association source called "unprecedented" penalties against both the Penn State University football team and the school.
"I've never seen anything like it," the source told correspondent Armen Keteyian.
NCAA President Mark Emmert will make the announcement Monday morning at 9 a.m. at the organization's headquarters in Indianapolis.
The penalties come in the wake of the independent report by former FBI Director Louis Freeh that chronicled repeated efforts by four top Penn State officials, including former football coach Joe Paterno, to conceal allegations of serial child sex abuse by Jerry Sandusky over a 14-year period.

I don’t think things should be different for Penn State. It seems like you think I approve of other NCAA actions against USC or Ohio State and I don’t. I think that penalties should be levied by the NCAA if and only if the actual guilty parties can be punished. What they NCAA does not just tomorrow but in all cases like this is akin to punishing the family members of a dead murderer. SOMEBODY has to pay, even if it’s not the people who actually did anything wrong.
“I would rather sacrifice football than children, but apparently you feel differently.”
I never said anything like that.
You cannot punish the boys there today for the crimes and liberal attitude of the college management of yesterday.
It is not an either or - if you have ever been to Penn state or Nebraska or 100 other college towns you would know how important the team is to the student body.
This is a civil and criminal issue and to end the teams ability and the boys opportunity to play is simply wrong.
Who do you know there knew the coach was gay and if they said anything they would have been hung out to dry by the liberals on campus. You know and so do I this is true - say anything against the gay community today and watch what happens.
I am not willing to punish children today that did not even know that coach that went there to play ball nor the “institution” they are learning from.
I am willing to fry the gay loving liberals in colleges that created an environment that speaking out and stopping it is “on the wrong-side of history”
BTW, where all the gay movement crowd protecting it, hiding like the cowards they and academia is in general.
