... Its also been reported that there were members of the military (with gun training) at the theater ...Depending on one's job in the military such "training" might have consisted of learning to identify the trigger and which end the bullet comes out. Not all positions require expertise with weapons.

No, that was Joe McGinniss. Isikoff did spend time in AK when SP emails were released and he was more than disappointed that he couldn't find any dirt.

There were other writers and reporters hanging close by Sarah’s place. It must’ve been a real clusterfk.

They would have been safer if half the audience is carrying ready to rake down a joker like this. Knowing that, he would go somewhere else.

Exactly. Nobody in the theater was armed; the shooter entered through an unlocked emergency exit, bypassing the main entrance.
To be accurate: He came in the front with the crowd. Left via the emergency door (either taping the latch down or blocking the door open depending which account you believe) armed up and came back in the same emergency door.

Pardon my naivety here, but what would congressional aides have to do with it unless you mean calls from constituents calling to demand Senators and Congressman pressure President Romney to reverse it? Yes that was my point.
Since most constituents don't make donations to a politician in the tens of thousands of dollars we will get an aide on the phone because the elected official is casting an important vote or in some committee meeting.

Please , Democrats. Run further left. Voters in Virginia, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Ohio definitely will love it. Ignore the 1994 election results last time the assault weapon ban was in place.

Looks like Isikoff has gotten a clue. The NRA is to stop stricter gun laws from being enacted. DUH!

A couple of armed law-abiding citizens and the result would have been far less catastrophic.
But the law-abiding citizens were obeying the law that made them targets.
