Thanks but $5k isn't chump change....and if you add to that gas grenades and tactical gear, paraphernalia and whatever else the LEOs find in his apartment, his credit card bill will be enormous after 60 days. Of course he could have made one minimum payment just to stay in good standing and shined the other one on. I'm sure somebody is following the money too.

I think you have the answer. He was not intending to pay off his credit card bill. A maniac intent on slaughtering a large number of people would not be too concerned with his future credit score.
