Voters with college degrees and international travelers are breaking for President Obama over Mitt Romney in the presidential race, according to a polling analysis from John Zogby. Romney, meanwhile, comes out ahead among top earners and the middle class.
The trend should be worrisome for Obama, Zogby wrote:
The picture that emerges from these select numbers is one of dissatisfaction among voters with the highest income, but an incumbent who might be able to cut his losses among more upscale voters by appealing to those with college degrees and those who have a more international perspective. At the same time, the president is waging an all-out war against Romney to win over middle income voters who, at the moment, are really enamored with Obama. An incumbent presently winning only 36% of voters in the $50,000 to $75,000 income range spells potential trouble for him.
Here’s how the numbers break down from Zogby's analysis of a total sample 5,300 likely voters:
Hot Air also covered Zogby’s previous analysis, which examined the “marriage gap” — the sharp political divide between married and single voters.
Colleges raise tuition every year. Some have multibillion dollar endowments. Collage aid leads to higher tuition for the same (or worse) schooling.
I smell b.s. I have many years of college and majored in the evaluation of b.s. I smell b.s. and lots of it.
Zogby Could be an Islamic mole, just sayin!
find this hard to believe.......
I o bot believe this for a second.
I o bot believe this for a second.
This would either mean that people earning $75,000-$100,000 support Obama by 2-1 over Romney, or a majority of College educated people earn less than $50,000!!
They admire his ability to golf all the time and not to do any work, but get paid. They want to be like him.
ZOGBY = “SPECIAL SAUCE” = GARBAGE
This is probably true for those international travelers who have completed a one way trip from Mexico to the US.
They say college educated, but not in what. I would guess that college educated in engineering and hard sciences is highly against Emperor Nero Narcissus, but those are the minority of college graduates. I would guess that anybody who got a degree in something that either has the word “Studies”, or “Science” in the title is 100%, which is a much larger number, and skews the statistics.
Zogby is not a credible pollster anymore
Me too. They didn't poll this college educated guy.
You count as 3/5 a person now.
I wonder how many military, returning from Afghanistan and the sand box were polled.
Fascinating. The Democrats are becoming the party of “upscale” voters? I thought the Democrats were supposed to be on the side of the poor and underprivileged.
The poll may be garbage as several Freepers have said, but polls like this point to something which really **IS** important in American politics — the increasing division of the historic base of the Democratic Party, the blue collar “working class” and “working poor,” away from two groups which have remained steadfastly Democrat, namely, the academic elite liberals and those in generational poverty.
Unfortunately we have Romney as our standard-bearer who is almost the worst possible person to exploit that division in Democratic ranks. Regardless of whether Romney is a slash-and-burn robber-baron crony capitalist, the Democrats will paint him as being that, and enough people will buy the argument that some people who don’t like either candidate will end up voting for Obama as the lesser of two evils.
With time, however, we may start getting better Republican candidates who really **CAN** capitalize on the growing anger of “working-class” and “working poor” families against selfish welfare takers, on the one hand, and on the other, privileged liberal and immoral elites.
Much of the Christian conservative vote falls into one or both of those two categories of anger —
1) people who for sociological reasons are upset at “takers” of welfare who are spending the hard-earned money of people only one step up than them on the social scale, or
2) people who for religious reasons are upset at the gross immorality being pushed by liberal elites on the rest of America.
Christian conservative issues have their own power, of course, but it’s good for America that evangelical Protestants and conservative Roman Catholics happen to fall into social classes where their religious objections to American trends being pushed by Democrats are in close alignment with their own economic self-interests.
Pre-1960s populist Democrats understood that. Modern Democrats may or may not understand, but they don’t care, and that is where we may just be able to win.
It gets harder all the time to know what to believe.
I do know that our schools have been dumbed down, and they are often indoctrination centers for the left.........
# Among the important group of voters making between $50,000 and $75,000 per year, Romney holds a 6-point edge, 42 percent to 36 percent. This income group makes up 21 percent of likely voters. And, according to Zogby, it is the group that normally provides the winner in presidential elections going back to 1972.
So if Zogby is saying that Art History majors working at Starbucks who have $200k in outstanding college loans are in the tank for Obama -- yeah, OK, I'll buy that!
It’s because they’re the smartest people in the room, not because colleges are mouthpieces for liberal propaganda.
