Instead of roads and bridges, Obama-sized government funds stasis and sclerosis: The Hoover Dam of regulatory obstruction, the Golden Gateway to dependency.

Obummer the Left Detour on American Avenue.
He is all that.
His writing is superb; more spectacular is his on-his-feet wit.
Dude’s mind is amazing; his command of language and ability to associate and draw juxtapositions on the fly leaves me in awe when I’m not actively laughing...
I’d like to meet him but I’m afraid I’d be tounge-tied.
That would be TONGUE-TIED, see what I mean?
Mark was beyond excellent today, as Rush’s substitute host. On a day when there was such profound tragedy, be just said all the right things. For three solid hours. Brilliantly.
In a sane country Mr. Steyn would be awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom for his work.
Didn’t get to hear but a small piece. He gets it and is a treasure for the West and Conservatism...
There is an aspect of Obama's speech I haven't seen mentioned yet.
Oama wasn't just lecturing the producers, hard workers and self starters.
He was throwing a sop to his followers, to his hard core base. He was speaking directly to the moochers, lay-abouts, welfare queens and others who have made a career of sucking on the teat of government.
He was giving them another jolt of false self-esteem and at the same time firing up their class envy and sense of resentment.
Obama was saying to them -
"Those well off people and rich guys are no better than you and they aren't any more gifted or smarter than you are. They didn't earn that big house and that new BMW any more than you did. They are slippery and sly and greedy and selfish. They just figured out a way to fiddle the books, to take more than their fair share of the things that belong to all of us. They wouldn't have the wealth they have if they didn't use up resources that belong to all of us and hog the wealth for themselves."
"You shouldn't feel bad about taking a government check, after all, the wealthy are unfairly getting more help from the government than you are. They over-use your share of the roads, bridges and everything else to enrich themselves. That's why they should pay more taxes - its just a way to make them pay you back for the unfair way they make their wealth. They owe it to you. They owe it to all of us."
Steyn is the best thing to come out of Canada since... I don’t know, Wayne Gretzky?
For your Mark Steyn ping list!

So sorry I missed Marc on friday!
Apparently Michael Mann, the climate "scientist" behind the infamous and debunked climate "hockey stick" graph, is threatening to sue Mark Steyn (and National Review?) for defamation over a recent blog post where Steyn quotes another blogger and then very effectively makes the point that the same Penn State administration that covered up the Sandusky child rape episode investigated and "exonerated" Mann's work.
See http://wattsupwiththat.com/2012/07/20/mann-invokes-the-streisand-effect-on-twitter/#more-67852 (and don't miss the hilarity in the comments section).
Mann is a ridiculous figure (and a big-time confused leftist) to begin with. Threatening to sue Steyn promises to unleash a verbal and intellectual thrashing that Mann can not possibly understand.
How ‘bout Pamela Anderson?
Obama quote, post 8. Class envy to the nth degree, almost a provocation to the mob to loot and burn. This bad president must not be reelected.
Steyn is wonderful. It was a perfect relief from the gloom of evil surrounding the Colorado shootings.
It wasn't government research, not even to develop the original ARPANET. Although the government -- actually the DOD -- supported the research on the original ARPANET, the work was done by private companies. The build-out of the Internet itself was all done by private companies.
The government didn't build the Internet. Someone else did that.
“I dont know, Wayne Gretzky?”
No, Bobby Orr!!
Orr was great. But Gretzky... might even have been better...!
It’s a pity Bobby didn’t have arthroscopic knee surgery available when he played. He retired at 28 because his knees were butchered by the medical technology at the time. Listen to the Canadian players when they talk about the 1976 Canada Cup. They all said Bobby Orr was the best player on the ice and he basically only had one knee. Bobby Clarke marveled how Orr could barely walk because of the pain but when he put his skates on he was the best player on the ice. I know one thing, Gretzky wouldn’t want to fight Orr.
LOL!
