Going by your impeccable logic, all those evil guns killed those people
Shooter dresses out as the lead villainous character, IDs himself as such, shows up at this specific movie premier and kills as many innocents in attendance as possible.
Clearly this is a deranged man given to dark and violent fantasies, and he meticulously preplanned this very mass murder in the same evil vein as the Joker character.
But we're not supposed to make these associations if our logic is intact and conclude that he just happened to show up there and start shooting? Sure.
Truth is two conditions were necessary here: he had to be predisposed to mass deadly violence not as a result of self-defense due to a disordered mind, which is demonstrably true; and obviously he needed some motivation, which he gained from this film. It's not even deniable, and has nothing to do whatever with "gun control." Others rushed to attribute political motivations to this because they wished it so, and you somehow feel threated with my clear and really obvious conclusions because you think it's somehow threatens the 2nd Amendment. If that's bothering you the better course in repudiating gun-grabbers is not to reflexively deny the obvious but to point out that an unarmed audience permitted this crime, which strengthens 2nd amendment arguments, since most of recognize there will always be people like Holmes and Colin Ferguson bent on--and with or without access to guns-- the wherewithal for carrying out these kinds of atrocities.
