Yours is one of the most sensible posts I've seen today.

It absolutely drives me crazy (or perhaps, crazier) to see FReepers making assumptions when something like this happens, in order to fit their pet theories, particularly about Islamic terrorism.

Then, when facts start to emerge that contradict their assumptions, they begin to twist themselves into pretzels in order to be able to cling to their initial theories. "He must be a convert." "This must be a media/government conspiracy to suppress the truth."

Please.

I second that. There is no room for ditto heads. Irrational thought is dangerous whether left or right. People need to realize that their perceptions bias and formulate the truth as they see it. In this time of turmoil, everyone needs to keep a level head and not fall into the blind posse mentality.

Don’t become an emotionally manipulated puppet! Anger clouds the clear thinking, causes us to surrender our individual authority to be manipulated, and blinds us from truth no matter the side we have selected.

We as a society today are falling into the same trap that made the Germans blindly follow their leader into justifying atrocities.

I agree. Too many Freepers these days suffer from kneejerk uninformed postings. A prime example was Romney’s response to the “monster” comment the other day. Suddenly he was pansy because he didn’t agree with the lady and then take it up a notch to “anti-Amercian socialist communist dictator monster”.

Romney did exactly the right thing, he handles it with class and ended up looking Presidential. If he followed some of the other Freeper advice, he would have looked like a moron and handed Obama a prime campaign commercial.

Freepers need to take 10+ seconds to think about what they are going to post, similar to when you are sending out a work email, and contemplate their words.

Tis best not to speculate, speculation often leads to red faces. Sometimes the truth may never be known. I would not deny you of the pleasure of speculation, who knows you may even be right, and then you can declare a great big “I told you so”, and that, along with a buck or two, will get you a draft beer.

Some of the worst wild speculations seem to come at the start of a thread.

If you can jump in on the beginning, apparently that gives you some kind of childish props. I was here first, I was here first...

And if you add a wild speculation that fits many peoples’ pet theories about every incident that occurs, all the better.

It takes a little time before anything reliable comes out from such incidents. If you take a little time yourself to get some underlying facts before commenting, your own credibility will fare much better, no matter your POV.

People either don’t realize their credibility is at stake, or they don’t care if it is.

Then you should be plenty crazy the next few days listening to everyone who knows zero about the incident seriously speculate it was Muslims. Or OWS. Or illegal immigrants. Or....

Sometimes people are just batshit nuts, people.

The media and the DOJ, and Homeland inSecurity will pin the motivation of this murder on a group of people. They will do it early before anyone has any real information on the perp. They will target YOUR political ideology and your second amendment rights!

Because of this, we have to work to identify the associations and motives of the shooter, ASAP. You may not like it, but this is the world we live in and one side can not afford to pretend they are above it all and get themselves and each other pinned as domestic terrorists.

It is very important that Freepers and all conservatives work to pin down who this shooter is before Obama’s media lie that the shooter is a Tea Partier, travels around the world and becomes ‘fact.’

There are a lot of idealistic whiners on here working against the necessary business at hand. You are being one of them. Get real.
