I emailed them. Thank you for providing the address. They have lost several hundred dollars per year from us, as we are a large family and that was our #1 clothing store.

It’s Sears and Wal-Mart, now, as I am avoiding Target as well.

James Cash Penny would not be pleased with his company today. From a bio at Christianity.com;

Penney’s first stores did not bear his name but were called The Golden Rule stores. He bought his first in the small mining community of Kemmerer, Wyoming, in 1902. There he competed for customers with 21 saloons.

In the midst of the Great Depression, one of America’s leading businessmen sank into a personal depression of his own. Now in his fifties, James Cash Penney had already built an empire of dry goods stores, dedicated to following the Golden Rule as a basic commercial principle. But when the economy caved in during the 1930s, Penney lost nearly everything—including his health.

I have found that unselfishness pays because it tends to engender unselfishness. —J. C. Penney

His parents had instilled in him a basic Christian faith that had given him the principles on which he had based his life and his business, yet now that faith was being tested. “I was at the end of my rope,” he said later. “My business had crumbled, my communications with colleagues had faltered, and even my . . . wife and our children were estranged from me. It was all my fault.” He was even contemplating suicide.

An old friend convinced him to enter a sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan. The rest and medical attention did him good, but there was another event that restored him spiritually. One morning he awoke too early for breakfast and was wandering the corridors when he heard a hymn he remembered from childhood.

Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you
All you need he will provide
God will take care of you

Following the sound, he stumbled upon a chapel filled with worshiping doctors and nurses. Someone read a Scripture passage: “Come unto me all you that are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” It was a moment of clarity for the hard-working entrepreneur. He had been striving all his life to honor God with his business, but now it was time to rest in the Lord’s grace. “At that time something happened to me which I cannot explain,” he said later. “It was a life-changing miracle, and I’ve been a different person ever since. I saw God in his glory and planned to be baptized and to join a church.”

Over the next twelve hours, he experienced a kind of conversion. “Suddenly needing to be heard, I cried inwardly, ‘Lord, will you take care of me? I can do nothing for myself!’ . . . I felt I was passing out of darkness into light.” The words “only believe” came to him. It was no longer about his own efforts, but God’s. “In the midst of failure to believe, I was being helped back to believing.”

Methinks JP Penny, once started and owned and run by a very capable Christian who loved Jesus Christ and respected his fellow man has been replaced by gay activists who mock God and family. Their ruin is self inflicted stupidity and arrogancy.

So, let me get this straight (no pun intended): Our fascist/socialist government has extorted certain major companies (along with educational system and military) into promoting the gay agenda in their broader effort to tear down America's traditional Christian foundation leading to the collapse of our Constitutional Republic?

I found the following 'interview' very enlightening and disturbing at the same time. A DEFINITE read, and there is another FR thread carrying this link:

Agree with the spirit of the post....but keep in mind this article is coming from an agenda to push the boycott is working angle.

I don’t like what they did, but the vast majority of the problems they are experiencing likely have zero to do with Ellen or gay issues.

They have to do with the horrible change to the company in getting rid of sales and instituting their new pricing policies.

JCP is failing right now simply because the changes are crap. Certainly the gay stuff hasn’t helped them. But, that’s not the main thing as AFA would like you to believe with their biased piece here.

Didn’t one of the main guys from Apple take over JC Penny and promise miracles?

Once you cross the line and start issuing statements about supporting homosexuality with your corporate brand...you can NEVER walk it back. It’s not like you can issue a retraction from it. If you did...then you would face the wrath of the gay mafia.

I did buy a dress from Penney's a few months back for my daughter who begged for it for a school semi- formal. She had picked it out with a friend when I wasn't along. I agreed to at least look at it. It was beautiful on her, I had to admit. The last one in her size had a part of the zipper that was broken. A simple fix. The dress was marked $109.99. I said, half jokingly to the cashier, “Excuse me, this dress is not wearable because of this zipper, would you consider taking $20 for it? “ The cashier was actually the manager filling in and said “sure”. I fixed it at home with a zipper piece I had and I have no sewing talent whatsoever. The manager claimed he lost money on the dress so I don't feel guilty about shopping there! And daughter won a “prettiest dress” prize!

I don’t care who you are or what you stand for it mays ZERO sense to try to make political statements in marketing and be a retailer. It almost never works. The whole gay thing is just stupid because it is so marginal. Gays have NEVER been a good target segment those who have tried to make the case are studies in marketing malpractice. If anything Chik Fil a’s success indicates that being more Christian centric is a far wiser marketing tack but why is it that that very obvious thing is lost on our Harvard educated marketing execs? Can they just not do the math?

Its like the stupid canard that keeps coming up in some GOP circles about how if we just invited gays into our GOP tent and the bitter proaborts we’d win win win! It never happens and the evidence is actually to the contrary but as with most liberals and intelligentsia they don’t let reality get in the way of what the wish to be true.
