Assuming there is valid and irrefutable evidence that a sitting POTUS has committed forgery and lied about his citizenship, if nothing is done then this sets a precedent for future non-citizen candidates being allowed to hold the office of the Presidency. Especially if the congress is given solid evidence and does not act on it.

Having read all the comments about Congress’ lack of motivation to do anything, I propose a theory:

The short answer is - Obama will throw the election (does anyone really think he’s putting a lot of effort in this race, or is it just a bunch of fund raising), but keep his pension, keep all the money in his coffers, and enjoy all the other trappings of being “President” (as he will be called by tradition).
That he gets to make messes like a petulant child on the way out is just a boost to his otherwise eggshell ego.
