You worked perhaps as many as 80 hours a week to get things running. You had your ups and downs, but you persevered. Vacations? Are you kidding? Maybe it was five years into your new business venture before you ever took a vacation. Every penny you could scrounge up … every spare minute you could find … all went into your business.

This is so true. It's one reason that I stick with working for a medium-sized Beltway Bandit outfit. Being a small business owner is no picnic--and not for the faint of heart.

I grew up in a family business, which is why I prefer to work for someone else.

I get to leave the worries behind at the end of the day, and weekends are mine. I have only one boss. My bosses boss is EVERY client/customer.

It is very hard, demanding and sometimes disheartening to be your own boss. People don’t do it for the money.

But every dollar the government takes out of HIS pocket is one less he has to pay for my benefits, or maybe a pay raise some day.

Maybe I’m lazy, or just burnt out.

I think the goal of Obama and his minions is to deprive us of ALL our disposable income.

I ran my own small business for twenty years as my sole support and ran part time businesses before that while working full time for others and I am VERY faint-hearted, actually afraid of my own shadow in fact. Of course I am also wild-eyed, crazy and totally unpredictable. Sometimes after I do something I have to try to figure out just why did I ever do that.
