At least one had a gun. The fact that he was moving away in no way removes the threat until he is out of range.

Hope you’re right about not bankrupting him. Maybe he shouldn’t have fired at them after they started to run, but under stress who knows what a person would do?

Have to disagree with you: even though the perps were “retreating”, they were still a threat while they were able to turn and shoot. As far as anyone could assume, both crooks were armed and meant to kill. If they recovered their nerves and turned back, the victims would have been placed in danger again.. The lesson I learned in Vietnam was to keep shooting until they’re down, then keep shooting to make sure they stay down, forever. Ammo is cheap and life isn’t.

I don’t agree the threat was over...most invasions involve 4 people...I think the threat isn’t over until the room is secured and you have checked the back door as well.

Just because they are retreating doesn’t mean they aren’t trying to draw you into someone else’s fire or trying to regroup.
