Now talking about the “codings” on the BC.
Back in 1960, BCs came in regions or batches, looked at by a human being, and coded. This document would have been coded, then re-checked, than signed by VK (Verna)Lee (Leigh?). Every document was coded the same way, then numerically numbered by batch. These forms were checked twice.
Looking at O’s BC, there is a #9 in pencil by the Race of father and the hospital (?), they didn’t know what that meant, but when going to Hawaii, we discovered the significance of this number. It meant it was unknown. Those fields should have been blank. Why is there info in the fields that should have been blank?
I thought the numbers indicated WHERE the document was coded. The person doing the coding at each location marked their batch number code on the document where information was not provided. This is why the code number 9 was concerning, since the Nordyke Twins were marked with #1s. Is this incorrect?
