I refused to give to the United Way too.

I told my boss I was earning my keep and once they paid me it became my money.

I told her there were other causes which I felt were worth my charitable giving and it wasn’t anyone’s business who I gave to.

I canceled my donations the day that they hung up their “thank you” posters in my work place. The “poor woman” had a nicer phone that me and was sitting on a much nicer couch than I could afford. I haven’t regretted it since.
