Is this what FR has been reduced to? Petty insults and gross distortions of some mild criticism of those FReepers who, long after it can make any difference, still cry and moan about Romney while accusing those FReepers, like me, that clearly and repeatedly state that we're not enthusiastic about Romney and never considered him a conservative but yet are accused of 'pimping Romney' when in reality, he is the only choice we're left with to remove Obama in the November election. To pretend that isn't the case and some Ronald Reagan clone will arise to vanquish Romney at the convention and save America from Obama lies defeat, another four years of Obama and the end of America as we know it.
I fail to understand why some of my fellow conservatives remain determined to have a fight over Romney with other conservatives when we all know the election comes down to just two men. One, Obama, is a communist and one, Romney, is quasi-liberal. That's it. Ron Paul won't be the next president. Neither will any other 'savior' that some FReepers may embrace. Stating reality and finding that non-stop bashing of the only guy we have in the race with any hope of defeating the Kenyan Marxist is now characterized as being a 'Romney Troll? I know it's tempting to play tough guy on the internet and swing a mean keyboard but when it gets to the point where, after a dozen years as a FReeper and over 6,000 posts I'm called insulting names by those who are determined to hate Mitt Romney even if it keeps Obama in office, something has clearly gone wrong with Free Republic.
In effect, as conservatives, we're allowing ourselves to be voluntarily balkanized and thus, weakened, which is foolish. Our nation is in dire peril. Obama must be defeated. Granted, Romney is a weak reed to pin our hopes on but at the moment, he's all we have. Hate him all you want, vote for some no-chance candidate as your private 'protest' but please don't use juvenile name-calling tactics to insult those long-time FReepers who simply want to see Obama soundly defeated on November 6th. This election is not a game and FR is too important a resource to be wasted in having insult-fests with those who accept the reality of Mitt Romney as the GOP presidential nominee and don't wish to endlessly re-fight the primary battles with other conservatives. Thank you.
