To: allmendream

Well, I know about the tiny pre-horses from the paleontology department of UC Berkeley, but I don’t remember any native camels. I don’t consider the tiny pre-horses to be “horses”. I just wonder if there were a recent article on these finds.

Well they were certainly horses in every sense of the word other than that you couldn't ride them! They were as much horses as the American Lion was a lion, and the American camel was a camel, and the American mastodon was a mastodon. And more so than the 'New World' vulture is an actual vulture (they look similar due to being carrion eaters - but are not actually closely related). Mini - horses are still horses - just mini!

Apparently the camel was an American native - and modern day camels descended from camels that came from America.
