Eventually it probably will, as there won't be anything tying it to Microsoft and not much to NBC.
Right now they're trying to change the name of msnbc.com, which is NBC's news website, and which has much content that has nothing to do with the cable channel.
Someday, they'll teach this case in business schools. Microsoft + NBC: what could possibly go wrong?
