One of *my* lifelong theories not of conspiracy but of bias goes as follows.
Media (for example this article) have a built in bias that everything that they breathlessly report on is always “escalating” “reaching crisis proportions” “reaching heretofore unseen levels” etc. etc.
It’s not even conspiratorial - it’s really just human nature.
If you’re going to write an article it doesn’t read well if you say “the murder rate fluctuates year over year”. It reads much better if you say “murder rates are off the charts”. Same for global warming, flu epidemics, foreclosures, etc. etc.
Readers tend to get sucked in and tend to believe the premise that “everything is a crisis” the likes of which have never been seen before.
For example many young people think that the air and water are more polluted than ever before when that is demonstrably untrue.
It could be that in this particular case the gangs *have* gotten out of control and the gang murder rate has indeed spiked but I’m always skeptical when I see articles that don’t attempt to justify their breathless tone but just accept it as premise.
Won’t be Chief long, talking like that.
But everyone should have the right to dress like a thug and wear a hoodie. Lets all dress like thugs in solidarity.
Most all of the residents that can survive outside of that culture have already left the inner cities, leaving a concentrated core of dependent non-producers. It really is not a black thing, it is a culture thing. Most blacks that have made it out on their own do not buy in at all to the hip hop gamsta saggy pant rap bust a cap in yo ass *uck dem hos mantra of the ghetto.
,,,, Yes it’s true ,,, Ameicans can keep and bare arms in Afganistan but the current military protocol on using these weapons is very risky to our troops thanks to the current Administration . Too much political correctness can get you killed anywhere in the world .
Before BJ Clinton’s welfare reform, some of these “generations” were 15 years apart, with 35 year-old “grandmothers” easily able to pass as their grandchildren’s “mother”. Welfare reform drastically slowed the birthrate, and consequently Hispanics passed blacks in population 10 years earlier than anticipated (by 2000 instead of 2010 as projected). The multi-generational government dependency hasn’t slowed, though the number of children per welfare queen has dropped. Rather than put up one queen in a hive with five offspring by three mates, we now put up the queen with one or two offspring and continue payments in the form of free college/job training and the like. Nothing has changed the outright dependency on government handouts in the hood; it isn’t as though some entrepreneurial spirit, desire to be self-sufficient, or re-birth of capitalism has taken place.
Not to knock trailers (I wanted to buy one when I was first married, but the wife wouldn’t have it), but many of them are rented rather than bought. In any case, I’d prefer the trailer (rented or bought) to a 20-story welfare hive any day of the week.
The media are determined to “change” mainstream America’s values (and they’ve been fairly successful); they have eradicated Christianity as a staple of American life. My children enjoy the “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” books & movies, and until it became political in the past few years they enjoyed “The Simpsons”; both were anomalies in that they featured families that attended weekly Christian religious services and the families each had three children rather than the one or two allowed by the cultural commissars. Contrast this with popular series like “Seinfeld” (no children or marriages) or “Friends” (in which any children - which don’t even arrive until late in the run - are born to “non-traditional families”).
Christianity lost the culture war to post-Christian nihilism, hands down; our importing of “replacement Americans” is an obvious result of this, as is the breakdown of nuclear families. To find our former “American” values, look to the Hispanics and Asians that are being shipped here; they still have families, traditions, and a work ethic.
In my area in NJ (between Jersey City and Newark) police have a very hard time stopping the drug trade because it isn’t people selling on corners to strangers; it is between groups of friends. Newark has focused on the buyers, but many of the usual suspects you mention weren’t included in the bag because the areas where the drugs were sold were too unsafe for them to go through at night. Newark provides plenty of its own drug consumers; as more young suburbanies turn to prescription drug abuse, they have less reason to ever visit the ghetto anyway.
...and they also love to promote the "cool", "hip" black gansta' image. Encouraging legions of young impressionable kids to want to emulate this insanity. Phony, arrogant, hypocrites.
As much as I see the “black counterculture” (I won’t call it a sub-culture, as it is more of a primitive lack of culture) portrayed on TV, it is tempered when playing to a white audience (at least for kids’ programs). The “bitches and hoes” references are omitted, and replaced with ridiculous clothing, poor English, and the matriarchal model (which is bad enough). Only wealthy whites far removed from the racial animosity on the street find it attractive; whites along the frontiers of civilization around the welfare reservations know better. They have their own means of degrading themselves, but find little of value in the black counterculture.
T’anks —a most welcome and spot on reply.
