Settlements are not just legal, but necessary

A fascinating development this week in Israel was the release of the report of a governmental commission whose assignment had been to define the legal status of the “occupied territories” for purposes of government policy. The commission was headed by Edmond Levy, an interesting former Supreme Court justice and one of the only ones who is not a judicial activist leftist.

The Obama people are upset with the report (an indication of how good it is) and Israel’s moonbat Left is positively wetting itself in anguish.

Basically the report says that the West Bank – Judea and Samaria – are not occupied territories at all but, at most, disputed territories, something like the US-Canadian border areas were during parts of North American history.

As such, there is no reason why Israel cannot build there and even seize land there under eminent domain.

There is nothing in international law that would make settlements “illegal.” And they should thus be proclaimed by Israel to be completely legal. Whether or not Israel builds settlements then becomes a matter of Israeli interests and policy, not legal obstacles.

I love it! Israel should tell the world that it is their right to build in Judea and Samaria and that it is their right to keep the Palestinians from building new safe havens from where they can attack Israel. And if the world does not like it... it is the world's problem, not Israel's!

The EU wants Israel off-balance so they can go in and reconquer Jerusalem for themselves. That’s why they’re on the “side” of the Palestinians for now.

There was a time when Europe was interested in religion and in the Holy Land. Not any longer. I think their attitude towards Israel is 100% pure, unadulterated anti-semitism. But I don't see any reason for them wanting to reconquer Jerusalem!

Zech. 12:2 says Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of drunkenness to all the surrounding peoples, when they lay siege against Judah and Jerusalem but I think it refers to Armaggedon.

The EU is still very interested in the Holy Land, although perhaps not in the same way as in the past (then again, the interest shown in the 20^th Century was not very religious either).

Israel's already gotten offers to join the EU.

You know, when you conduct a surprise attack on a country for the purposes of wiping out that country and killing every man, woman and child.

And lose that war in a big way.

You shouldn’t be surprised if you lose some territory.

Germany isn’t getting back western Poland.
Japan isn’t getting back Korea.

And the arabs are not getting back the West Bank.
