Bangladesh is a pretty fascinating country, just by the numbers. Here's how to view it:

Take every male (or female) in the US, and ship them all to Iowa. (Or the entire population of Russia. Same basic number ~145-150 million)
Now take Iowa, and put it in the middle of monsoon territory.
Now take New (and Wet) Iowa, and remove most of the hospitals, schools, half of the arable land, and 90% of the underground resources (surprisingly little metals, coal, etc).
Next, put in a culture that is often at odds with itself, and make it virtually invisible on the world stage, despite having over 2% of the global population.

Now add a language that isn't spoken elsewhere.

Next, make it a former colony of Pakistan (what a great influence to follow!), and make 90% of the population Muslim.

VOILA'!! You now have Bangladesh. Good luck!

Oh, and surround your new nation with India, who is not exactly needing any inflow of your excess citizenry... and isn’t able to provide too much in the way of aid... and doesn’t have much of a pro-Muslim history (see: Pakistan again).
