Who’s bailing on Obama? Just about everybody
Washington Times ^ | July 8, 2012 | Joseph Curl

Today, let’s look at the polls — all of them. To start with, health care: Just 6 percent of Americans think health care is the most pressing issue, according to the latest Gallup poll. Why? Because lots of those Americans don’t have jobs or are underemployed — the real jobless rate nationwide is more like 14.9 percent, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

So savoring his big win on health care is most definitely a waste of time for President Obama, and he knows it. After less than a week of spiking the football (a relatively short time for America’s most narcissistic president ever), the president is back on the campaign trail. What’s striking is where he’s going: Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa — places he won in 2008.

Why? Simple. All the latest polls show he’s losing … well, everyone. He’s down 13 points with voters ages 18 to 25, nearly half of whom think he’s done a mediocre job, according to Students for Life of America. The healthy young don’t really care about health care, but they do care about jobs — and nearly 2 million 20- to 24-year-olds are unemployed.

“With skyrocketing student debt and grim unemployment prospects for those out of college, young voters’ collective love affair with the president has abated,” SFLA Executive Director Kristan Hawkins said.

The rate is far worse if you’re young and black. For blacks ages 16 to 19, the unemployment rate is now 39.3 percent, up from 36.5 percent last month...

--snip--

While the lack of enthusiasm for Mr. Obama does not translate into enthusiasm for Mr. Romney, the GOP candidate has a clear path to victory: Nibble away at the margins the president won in 2008 — across all demographics. Pick up 4 percent here, 9 percent there … until victory.

How about letting the guy get started, before turning on him?

Mitt had better have more to his campaign than merely attacking ‘bam’s economic disasters.

Unemployed and poor people want a government check; they’ll accept less in exchange for security. They think they’re victims deserving their fair share. Money’s just paper, and rich people like Romney have more than they could ever use.

Remember, they voted for Roosevelt bottom of the depression. Three times. Walter Williams pointed this out on Rush last Friday.

Mitt has to promise people a better future. He has to share a vision with them, one that will make them believe better things are possible.

Look, Obama is going to lose by a massive landslide. He will be lucky to take eight to twelve states. The Democrat Party will lose both the Senate and the house by big margins. The economy will only get worse, with Obamacare approved, no business large or small will hire any new workers without knowing the impact on its income and profit. Obama is the premier “Flim/Flam Man”, and....the majority of the American people know it.

Hang tight, Romney will use his surrogates to fight the good fight until he is the official POTUS nominee in August. Then all hell will break loose. For goodness sake, Romney may be the “billion dollar” candidate, not “dirt bag” America hater, Barack Hussein “Muslim Brotherhood Lover” Obama!!! ABO!!! Even a blind monkey, with one hand tied behind his back would beat this anti-American incompetent, Obama!!!

Remember, they voted for Roosevelt bottom of the depression. Three times. Walter Williams pointed this out on Rush last Friday.

I agree. A liberal "friend" of mine likes to point that out each time the discussion turns to the election and I get the sense he is clinging to that like a lifeline to sanity.

And, sadly, he and Walter Williams may just have a point. With 47% of the people on some form or another of government support, and with Obama desperately trying to increase that number every day, it's clear what Obama's strategy is. Get people hooked on federal dough, pay off the reliably leftist communities, suppress any and all attempts to rein in voter fraud, and hope that the numbers add up sufficiently to squeak by.

And it just may work.

The thing is, like him or not, nobody is going to accuse Mitt of being stupid, so he knows that, too. I can't believe that Mitt is sleepwalking through this the way McLame did. He has a plan. He's working a plan. Whether it will be an effective plan...

Time will tell.

True, but Reagan was down by over 12 points to Jimmy Catah in September of 1980. We all know how that turned out.

Reagan's great advantage was that the more people heard him the more they liked him, largely because he actually had conservative convictions and stood by them. Romney is such a weak-sounding finger-in-the-wind snoozer of a candidate that it's hard to see him getting a similar surge. I wonder if the GOP will ever allow a strong candidate to be nominated in my lifetime.

Gingrich would be killing Obama right now.

I'd sure be cringing a lot less watching Gingrich speak instead of Romney.

When is Romney going to start campaigning? Ever?

Do you really think the majority of undecided likely voters are even paying attention yet? What was Reagan's numbers in July 1980?

So, just how long does it take him to get started? When is he going to take a position and offer some kind of plan at least an opener?

There are Obots and there are ...

Since when is asking what he is going to do and when “turning on him”?

What was Reagan's numbers in July 1980?

You've got a point there; Reagan was tied or behind Carter at this point, as I understand it.

On the other hand, by this time in 1980 Reagan had already gotten off at least a half-dozen one-liners that hit Carter right between the eyes and put him off balance. Has Romney said even one memorable thing at the expense of Obama?

Romney is ahead of Obama because Obama is so much worse than Carter ever was. Romney's ahead of Obama without even trying.

Reagan didn't coast to the Convention in 1980.

Maybe you can go over there and see how long those people think it ought to take mittens to get started.

Ever hear the story about the new bull and the two old bulls? One of the old bulls charged the new one and one didn’t. The new bull thought one of the old bulls was a cow.

ME TOO.

Gingrich has a fire in his gut. He just needs a finisher as a partner since he has the attention span of a ferret.

I just think we’re a bit premature to be worried about our guy not making his move yet.

It’s not even to day 100 yet.

Thanks for putting that up.
Your post shows thoughtfulness and wisdom amongst the yahoos.

I’d like to see a blowout as much as anyone else.
I’d like to see Obama crushed electorally.
I’d like to see those who surround him totally repudiated.
I’d like to see the left run out of town.

But being a realist, I just don’t see this as a given.

This will be a close election, bitter, contested, divisive.

The end result, even if Romney wins, will not serve to unite the nation, but only to further divide it.

If Romney wins (and I believe he will, by a small margin of the popular vote and a razor-thin margin in the Electoral College), expect to see the ‘rats “Wisconsinize” — with the end goal of totally thwarting any Republican efforts to dismantle the ravages of Obammunism.

Romney’s victory (assuming he wins) will mark not the end, but the beginning of a bitter struggle by conservatives and traditionalists to either re-take the nation, or failing that, to take the first steps towards separating from the federals and establishing some kind of “second nation” in which they can do as much....

The healthy young don’t really care about health care, but they do care about jobs...but they should care about the fact that they're going to be forced to buy healthcare whether they care about it or not - because it's Obama's scheme that the dollars they pay for insurance they'll likely not use for years will pay for the care of all those poor and downtrodden patients who can't afford to buy insurance on their own - the young are being used under Obamacare as pawns to make sure the plan is economically viable - one more deceitful disgrace......
