What is there that's Jewish about "social moderation?" Is the Torah "socially moderate" on homosexuality? Is Halakhah "socially moderate" on abortion on demand? The big secret is that Judaism is actually more like islam than chr*stianity (especially American chr*tianity). It is a "totalistic" Theocratic religion that regulates all of life. How can one belong to such a religion and then be afraid of "theocracy?" It is a Theocracy!!!
One difference between totalistic Judaism and totalistic islam is that Judaism does not aspire to convert the entire human race to Judaism, but to the Noachide Laws. Another is that, unlike islam (a universal religion) Judaism is the religion of a nation in exile, at present without the fullness of the Torah polity. And that polity in its fullness does include things like capital punishment for certain sins (provided all requirements are met) and animal sacrifices. This is not a "modern," new age religion. And I wish chr*stians whose hearts are allegedly bleeding with love for the Jewish People (and for the Bible they claim to love so much) would think a moment or two before screaming about how only savages would ever execute someone for adultery by stoning him/her to death. Oh really?
No, Jews in the present exile are not going to embark on a program of forcing all non-Jews to convert to Judaism (or to Noachism), but chr*stians who object to total religion are just as much of a mystery to me as Jews who are afraid of "theocracy."
Why can't Jewish Republicans bring their total Torah philosophy with them? That's the question.
Because most middle class suburban Jews are not observant or even informed about the torah. They are ethnically Jewish, but their real religion is liberalism. They think this keeps them safe from attacks by the unwashed, illiterate goyim.
