To: Alas Babylon!

Good morning!

I only come to this thread on FR. Reasons:

Too much in-fighting, which pre-dates Romney. I saw it in 2008 when Guiliani backers got the old heave-ho. Before that in 2000, I still remember how Bush supporters were attacked.

(I always thought conservatives were supposed to be reasonable, not emotional.)

Slow servers. This is frustrating when there is a big news event.

Lack of easy posting of graphics (icons, photos, charts, etc.)

Those are the top three. In addition, I prefer posting on Twitter, where I can directly confront news people.

I am also disturbed about the anti-Mormon sentiment I have seen on some threads, which I find strikingly similar to the left.

So that is why I am only here on your thread, and only every so often.

Now to go move the sprinkler. We have not had rain since late May, and I am struggling to keep my landscape alive.

Miss M,

I went out and watered all my plants two days ago figuring a good watering would carry them over.

It wasn’t easy; I have a big lawn and porting that hose around was painful in the searing heat. Sweat was pouring off of me, stinging my eyes and making me cuss.

But I figured the plants could hold on for a couple more days.

But no, the heat kept climbing and I just could not go out there again. Last night, on my way to church in the Jeep, the 6pm Saturday mass now that the tourons are about...the Jeep’s thermometer showed 103 degrees...this at 7 pm.

Either the plantings have survived or they’re dead is all. My heart is broken but I couldn’t do it, couldn’t go out and constantly water.

I’ve seen some dead things on my way out in the Jeep.

Comes the cool I’ll check it out.

God Bless the petunisa, impatiens, salvia, coleus, joe pye weed, coneflowers, hibiscus bush and of course my polka dot plant killed by the wrens.

More on the wrens later.

Sprinkler moving has become the big hobby around here.

It’s very exciting.

Oh, and I agree with you about posting of pictures here.

I’ve done it but it’s way too much sugar for a dime as my sister-in-law used to say.

Never understood what the heck she was talking about but she was raised in sugar country.

On Facebook, for example, it is relatively easy to post a picture.

But plenty of people seem able to do it, so maybe it’s just me.
