(GunReports.com) -- If you think it is hard to own and possess a semi-automatic firearm in California now, just wait until Senate Bill 249 gets enacted, NRA-ILA reports.
Senate Bill 249 was amended from an agriculture bill to a serious anti-gun bill to eliminate the ownership and possession of most semi-automatic firearms by law-abiding Californians. SB 249, introduced by state Senator Leland Yee (D-8), would restrict any person from importing, making, selling, loaning, transferring or possessing magazine release components in semi-auto firearms (bullet button, etc).
Senate Bill 249, if enacted, would ban the ownership and possession of AR-15s and other magazine-fed semi-automatic firearms that currently use "bullet buttons" or other tools to restrict the removal of the magazine. This anti-gun bill would also authorize civil and criminal penalties for possessing a "conversion kit."
Also, SB 249 would make the possession of a "conversion kit" a public nuisance, authorize civil and criminal penalties and require surrendering the conversion kit. According to this bill, a conversion kit is any combination of parts that, when affixed to a firearm with a fixed magazine, are designed and intended to convert that firearm into an assault weapon as defined in the bill.
full auto.
I think you can still own them if you bought them prior to a certain date.
Problem is, if you bought something like that back before they started keeping records (which is a violation of our rights) How can you prove when you bought it?
I bought stiff legally with cash in Ca before all this horseshit that could get me in trouble in Ca now as I have no receipts to prove when I bought them.
You absolutely cannot be in possession of full auto unless you are LEO (w/department letterhead authorization) or a movie studio. There is no grandfather clause for class 3.
No. there are a million nit picky rules in Ca now.
I can’t define them all here.
These Kommiefornia jerks have no knowledge of 1776.
They have no knowledge of 1849 when the 49`ers carried pistols and rifles. In the 40 years there I never saw any “1776” in 4th of July parades nor any colonial uniforms in San Francisco.
During the Iraq war if you flew an American flag from your car antennna you were spit upon. But if there was a Mexican flag or a PLO flag on the antenna it was ok.
This Kal govt is truly communist and anti-American.
This state gov follows Pelosi, Feinstein Boxer and Jackie et alii
They all have to leave.
Now!
Exactly.
Thanks.
When I lived there you could own them.
I assumed they grandfathered them since the grandfathered detachable Hi cap mags on semi autos in 2000
Soon there won’t be anyone left in California other than illegal aliens, Hollywood and the porn industry, welfare queens, leftoid college professors, greedy politicians and EPA inspectors.
It requires a combination of evil rifle components. For example, when they introduced the bill, I went out and bought a Ruger mini 30 just for spite. It has a detachable mag which I could release sans "bullet button." But it had no pistol grip (picture a M1 carbine) which made it harmless according to the pimps in Sacramento.
I then escaped to civilization and sold the gun and bought a Smith and Wesson M&P 15 PC (AR type rifle) in 5.56 caliber w/two 30 round mags.
I'm now shopping for a Sig 716 in 308. Screw kalifornia.
The bottom line of all this Nanny State crap is that nannys are never happy and they never stop until you are completely subservient to them and have NO RIGHTS.
It’s the death of 1000 cuts.
They actually grandfathered the whole AR platform. Detachable hi cap mag, pistol grip, flash suppressor, etc. But they’ll eventually get around to making it impossible to shoot, if not own, these as well.
Death of 1000 cuts.
And there are people here that think tobacco and food restrictions are swell.
There are folks here that think we should drive french pu**y fart cars and tax SUV’s.
Death of 1000 cuts.
In 1982, anti-gunners in California placed on the ballot Proposition 15 to ban handguns in the state.
They had a guaranteed win as straw polls showed the law passing by a two thirds margin so they were already popping corks in celebration of a win!
The night before the vote, CBS entered the fray with a very anti-gun program.
Then came the vote. The anti-gunners LOST by two thirds.
Since that time the legislature has been finding every way possible around the will of the people.
I shot my first AK 47 in Ca.
Folks shot full auto all the time.
My how things have changed.
The tragedy (in my mind) is that I’ve lived all over the US. But I loved California more than anywhere else. I lived in the valley just two hours east of San Fran. I could be at the ocean, or Yosemite, or trout fishing up in the Sierras in no time. I love that place but I’ll never move back. And it breaks my heart.
You don’t get it, do you?
How many weapons are prohibited under an “assault weapons” ban, that are NOT assault weapons?
Oh I get it.
WTF is an assault weapon?
Lets classify a Louisville Slugger as an assault weapon.
I get it.
Yes, I loved it there too, when it was free.
But how do THEY prove when you got it?
Or do they assume that if there’s no receipt, you got it after 2000?
Once again thanks to all.
You know they do.
That's what the NOPD did during Katrina.
They took the guns from the people against the constitution, and when people filed suit to get their guns back they said "we'll return them if you have a receipt from NOPD" Knowing full well no receipts were ever issued.
