Daytona Beach .. 400 miles .. 43 drivers .. Nascar shrank the air hole and changed the thermostats to make tandem racing less of an issue. We'll see..
Truth be told tubebender and the 1st wife are some of the nicest folks you’d ever want to meet and they have a location, home and garden that I’d give my eye-teeth for. Mrs. Happydog and the 1st wife share interests and became friends so much so that Mrs. Happydog just mailed some kitchen re-model plans to first wife that’ll only cost tubebender HIS eye-teeth.
High 80’s to low 90’s for the next week in Bend. Humidity will be around 20%. Summer has finally arrived in Central Oregon.
Lining them up for the start. Gotta have the 48 in there.
Another dash shot.
The 48 crew had a concern about the cracks in the pavement of their pit and called a NASCAR official to check it out.
Speaking of pit boxes Matt Kenseth has the nicest set-up of all the cars.
Premier Sports booked us into a place on Round Barn Road. Named for obvious reasons. Notice the hot-air balloon off in the distance. We saw two turkeys and a deer in this lot later on in the day.
Great PiX, Thanks! The weather was mighty nice and cool.. beer sales were probably down a bit.. oh well.

Jamie McMurray was fastest in final practice for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, running at a speed of 197.837 mph. Can he follow it by winning the pole?
I dunno. If your gonna drink, your gonna drink. Had two guys on our bus that were popping tops at 6:35am...heard several folks at the track say “I’m going to get a Margarita”. Didn’t see wine sales in general concession booths but I’m sure the VIP tents were awash in vino.
Gonna try to catch qualifying.
......watchin Nationwide....gonna be awesome
Been to Daytona for the July NASCAR race many times. In the old days it was called the Firecracker 400. The night before the 400 was an IMSA GTO/GTU race on the road course called the Paul Revere 250. Coworkers and friends would rent a U-Haul and usually park in the infield between turn 1 and 2. Would watch the race from the roof sitting on couches from anyone we could get to donate furniture to the cause. The infield at Daytona is a pretty wild place, especially after dark. Cannot repeat. Must try to forget!
Has been entertaining.
you betcha
OUCH!!! Dillon...
the medium big un
Those wild nights in my youth, those that I could remember the next day, I try to forget too. Young, dumb, etc...
Missed the Nationwide. Watched a movie - date night w/the missus.
Steaks ready to go for tomorrow’s race and it’s probably not the only thing that’ll go up in smoke.
Oh my gosh, Kurt Busch wins!
Gees, I went to bed thinking Stewart was starting 2nd after qualifying. Not to be....I assume this violation was inadvertent as Dillon got busted for the same issue:
NASCAR announced 90 minutes before the race that #22-A.J. Allmendinger has failed a random drug test and has been "temporarily" suspended. He was randomly selected and tested following the Kentucky race and his "A" sample tested positive. He has the right to request that NASCAR test his "B" sample. Should he refuse to have the "B" sample tested, or if that test is positive, the suspension will become indefinite. Sam Hornish will replace him in the #22 at Daytona.

BREAKING....Breaking news: Just hours before the Coke Zero 400, NASCAR has announced that AJ Allmendinger has failed a random drug test and has been pulled from the seat of the No. 22 Shell Dodge. Sam Hornish Jr. will be his replacement, and had to fly to Daytona from Charlotte with barely two hours’ notice.
