Daytona Beach .. 400 miles .. 43 drivers .. Nascar shrank the air hole and changed the thermostats to make tandem racing less of an issue. We'll see..

Daytona race thread is Up Ping!!!
Woot!
I wish they’d just go back to the days of old. I’m tired of the pack “racing” and NASCAR’s shenanigans to tweak it for each race.
After the Daytona 500, this is my favorite race!
This is the 11th year of posting this here rodeo on a stick of a thread.
As always, we run fundraising drives quarterly.
Let's do our part to help ford the streams and tame the wildfires , and if ya already Donate to FR, Thanks. If not, it's easy to do.
NASCAR, volunteers bag donations for military

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Under a hot Florida sun, Boy Scouts and other volunteers filled clear plastic bags with personal items that would soon be on their way from Daytona International Speedway to military personnel serving at Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan.
The effort coincides with Goodyear’s use of tires that have “Support Our Troops” emblazoned on the sidewalls, and concludes a six-week stretch in which NASCAR and its partners have shown their support of men and women serving in uniform. Conducted under the banner of the NASCAR Foundation and NASCAR Unites, the program began Memorial Day weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway and ends at Daytona shortly after the Fourth of July.
This week marks the third year Goodyear has undertaken its “Support Our Troops” program, with the slogan written on the sidewalls of the tires that Sprint Cup and Nationwide cars will employ during events this weekend at the 2.5-mile track. The Camping World Truck Series vehicles will use tires bearing the same message for their July 14 race at Iowa Speedway. It coincides with a “Goodyear Gives Back” effort in which 5,000 care packages including items such as hand sanitizer, sunscreen, deodorant, lip balm and popcorn were compiled by volunteers. UPS is shipping the packages overseas at no cost.
Top 10 and beat tubeblender! He is getting slow in reacting to the green light.
Thanks Norm, I have been super busy getting set-up in Concord, NC. I can only guess at the race this weekend. I will check in from time to time to see who is going to make a difference. I hope everybody had a great 4th.
Great work man!
They’re practicing on the road course at Indy tomorrow, getting ready for the pre 400 race, my buddy calls up and says let’s go.
I tell him it’s gonna be 100 degrees, I’m stayin’ home.
I’m a wimp in my old age....
In the old days we had real races, Real cars.
Make it go fast an win.
Today if one car wins too much they find a way to slow them down.
That aint racing.
TX for the heads-up - I'm only a half-assed race fan, but would like to catch this race if I can find the time.
I'm kind of wondering if Carl Edwards and his team can find the mojo they had two seasons ago - then seemingly lost completely last year.
- a p.s. to that - seems the other Ford driver I've cheered for in the past (Matt Kenseth) is current 'leader' - wonder how long that holds out! LOL
*Nascar Bump*
Here’s too Hot Hot Hot.. but not too Hot Hot Hot!!! whewwwie,, we’re lucky here temp-wise.. but that can change.. where’s its always hot. ;-)
Jimmie Johnson gave an unannounced interview so we got up close and personal; JJ is Mrs. Happydogs favorite driver and I took this photo for her, honest.
The "Patriots" did a 20 minute show prior to the race. Their red, white and blue smoke is computer controlled.
We watched the '48 team gluing on the lug nuts. Glue goes against the rim with the nut on top then a touch of glue on the side. I round heavy cover is then placed over the top so the nuts can seat.
Inside of Joe Nemecheks car.
I was able to finally meet tube bender and he invited me to his house. He didn't know I took this photo; his house is the 2nd from the left...as you can see the deck is under construction.
I've got a couple more I'll post later.
The blonde with the umbrella has a wonderful chassis.
I would have been first but the FR servers still have a cold...
My real home is on a island in FRisco Bay...
During the 15 to 20 minute Q & A my wife wirly noted that not once did the umbrellas the ladies are holding actually provided shade for anyone on the stage. I didn’t notice......
