Yep, everyone should be required to have an AR-15 and a 9mm sidearm.
Maybe similar to the Swiss? Have every American citizen owning at least one true assault rifle (fully automatic), do a two year stint in the military, and have a weekend each year for the whole nation to go to their local ranges and get reacquainted with their firearm.
