July 3, 2012 Romney Campaign Declaring Cease Fire on Health Care Posted by Staff

In the aftermath of the Supreme Court health care ruling, the early conventional wisdom was that an unfavorable health care ruling at the court would be good for Republicans politically, even as it was a serious policy setback for conservatives. But that's not shaping up to be the case. Mitt Romney, after giving a brief statement decrying the decision, has been virtually silent on criticizing the health care law. He's been on vacation and his campaign has been giving off clear signals that it doesn't want to make health care a major part of the election.

His senior adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, went on MSNBC Monday and ended up agreeing with the Obama campaign's spin that, even though the Supreme Court declared the individual mandate a tax, it really still is a penalty. Significantly, his campaign appears to want to take the most potent argument against the president on the health care subject off the table, likely out of fear the Romney himself is vulnerable when it comes to his health care record. He, after all, supported a mandate as governor of Massachusetts, and doesn't want that to be considered a tax, either.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I did comment on Romney's page "It is a tax. The Supreme Court said so. We are waiting to see what you will do." Signed, an uncommitted voter.

Well to be honest, Governor Romney has not taken a position it was one of his people, and it was Monday I think?

That’s all. Back to it. :D

It’s now the law.

Romney said when elected he will issue blanket waivers to every state.

He said he would begin efforts to repeal he l;aw his first day in office.

What do people expect him to do this week? Dynamite the Supreme Court building?

And you believe him?

Jumpin Jesus, there's one born every minute.

I wouldn't trust this degenerate con man to even sign a repeal in the unlikely event a GOP Congress put it in font of him.

He's a liar.

Oh, this is claptrap. Romney spoke out against the decision again today, called it a tax, and is celebrating the 4th with his family.

I’m old enough to remember when Laura Ingraham leaned slightly conservative and was not willing to lie outright in print.

Bad idea,Mitt. The economy and OsamaObamaCare are the essential double whammy for you.Dropping either one will probably make you the new McCain on 11/7.Using both to the fullest will probably put you in command of Air Force One next January. It's your choice....do you really want to be President or is this just a pasttime for you????

Romney must go after everything about Obama from the Healthcare to the illegals amnesty to the recess appointments. IOW every anti-american thing that Obama has done during his reign. Portray him as the anti-american Communist anti-christ which is exactly what he is. Run his quotes. Run his promises and run the truth. The truth will crucify the progressives. They cannot stand it.

The Obamatax omnibus bill is part and parcel of the whole topic of the economy. In the face of living in Great Depression II, the Democrats passed a tax bill (and the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” WAS, at its heart, a tax bill), further exacerbating an already bad economic situation, and promising only to borrow even greater sums of money to implement it. By stealing the “trust fund” for Medicare, and transferring it to an expansion of a similar program that would be extended to those unable to purchase insurance on their own, a double blow was laid on the future prospects for funding medical services - far too little money was set aside for the purpose to begin with, and when the money runs out, as it shall now at a far greater rate than previously calculated, the pressure will be on for borrowing larger and larger sums until there is nobody left to act as banker, then the whole system collapses, unable to pay even pennies on the dollar for contracted services.

A zero-sum game always runs the risk of entropy. The value of the currency in use declines to nothing, and there is nothing to expand the universe in which new measures of value are brought in.

This election would have been a slam dunk for Romney based upon the economy stupid.

But now that Roberts has put Obamacare front and center, it puts Romneycare also front and center. How's it working out up there in Massachusetts???

Eric Fehrnstrom: If that head doesn’t roll soon, we’ll know the fix is in, and Romney has no intention of fighting hard enough to win. IIRC, this is the same idiot who coined the Etch A Sketch term.

Romney said when elected he will issue blanket waivers to every state.

...that’s enough for me right now. If this obamacare can’t be funded then how would it survive? As we speak, waivers are being passed all around by Crackpot Pelousi. In all fairness everyone should be getting a waiver.

What do you mean? That I am shilling for Laura Ingraham? I just thot it was tremendously important that we conservatives know this, and it was the only place I saw it. Your problem with that? I am furious about Obamacare and I am furious that Romney won’t bother with it.

Dark horse candidate??

No no - just the blog.

Romney did not ever say he was giving up on repeal or anything. He will exempt all 50 states and work for full repeal.

This is a GOP-e campaign - not Romney’s [he knows obamacare is a loser - and he’s a pol] and not yours.

Sorry for the confusion.

On this particular narrow issue, whether or not he will make this a campaign issue, yes I do. Do I believe him on everything? No. Do I trust him over all? Not really. Can’t stand him for the most part.

BUT BUT BUT That was not the issue here.

But hey, you got your boot licking “I hate Mitt more than you do” ribbon award for the day. Congratulations. Go update your Obama sticker.
