McConnell: We’ll Repeal Obamacare, One Way or Another
National Review Online ^ | July 3, 2012 | Robert Costa

Posted on 07/04/2012 6:50:29 AM PDT by Jedidah

" . . . Repeal of Obamacare will be the first item up in the Senate if I am majority leader. If we have a president who will sign the bill, we will do everything we can to get it off the books, and we’ll be looking for every angle that could be pursued. There has been a lot of talk about reconciliation. The Chief Justice said this is a tax, and we take him at his word, so that certainly makes this eligible for reconciliation. But that may not be the only avenue that we pursue. Our goal will be to get it off the books. In my view, it is the single worst piece of legislation that has been passed in modern times, and I’ve said that on numerous occasions. It’s still my view. And just because the Supreme Court has decided it is constitutional doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do."

[ When we retake control of the Senate, we need a much more DYNAMIC leader than McConnell. Republicans need to stop rewarding longevity and start rewarding LEADERSHIP! Who should it be? ]

Wisconsin’s Ron Johnson.

“Congress cannot ‘repeal’ Roe v. Wade. It would be like trying to repeal the second amendment. It sucks, but that is the way it is.”

________________________________________________________________________

Roe vs. Wade is NOT legislation. It was a court case. It had nothing to do with Congress at any stage. “Repeal” isn’t applicable. Congress can make law banning abortion if it wants to. But You’re conflating subjects here that have no relationship.

I am hoping that voiding all exemptions or waivers would result in everyone receiving a waiver.

My second choice would be to return to the old public health system to serve the military, the medicaid and all public employees, including teachers. Unfortunately, the medicare patients who do not have supplemental policies would be treated there as well.

It would be a tremendous savings for the cities and towns that are going broke paying government union benefits.

You mean by the states? How about expanding on that. What 7 times? The only incident where it was tried that I remember from my high school and college U.S. history and U.S. government classes was when South Carolina tried it with pretty-much mixed results, IIRC.

“I think the mainstream media is sowing discord among conservatives — their main passtime. “

Many in FR join in.

The timing is all wrong.
step 1: Elect Romney and GOP Congress
step 2: Get them to repeal Obamacare fully ASAP.

We need to get step 1 done before we even bash them for not doing step #2.

If we get the Senate, we need a ruthless conservative to lead it. Repealing Obamacare, all 2700 pages of it, is a matter of life and death. We can have no reconciliation to keep any part of it alive. McConnell failed to keep comrade Snow in line to block Obamacare from a vote. Because of Snow, we have Obamacare. Because of McConnel’s weakness, we have Obamacare.

After it has been repealed, we will debate options and proposals on how to handle the problems of non-coverage within the current health care system. Socialist Mittens may not be the dictator of what comes next because he’s already proven himself unable to respect economic freedom and self determination with Romneycare. Romney is going to have to be blocked and curtailed by conservatives in Congress when he tries to introduce ‘progressive’ solutions at a national and global level.

I do not understand how the waivers work? A waiver from the entire bill or parts of it. Because if only exempt from the mandate, that's nothing. All the other taxes to business etc...3.8% tax when you sell home. The entire thing must be waived.

I think that it was Friday's Mark Levin show where he expounded upon it. Mark stated that it has been tried 7 times and that it has worked in every case. Mark is where I learned all about it and the went on to read more about it on the Internet. Go listen to Mark's archives... it is easy to do and the link to his past shows are on his home page. He explains it better than I can. We already have a solid Southern block of States that have vowed not to implement obamacare... we need more States and a Resolution informing the House of their intent.

Good advice when dealing with ANY politician. They work for US.

“Must have got a lot of e-mails..GOP is gutless...Rush was so mad on Friday he was stuttering”

When Rush actually has the guts to call for Boehner and McConnell to resign their leadership posts....let me know. Until then, he is a useless windbag.

You were way too nice. My e-mail to this “feckless bastard” started with “you worthless pr**k” This man, like his counterpart over in the House is a smarmy, chinless, spineless, worthless a$$hole who offends me by the very fact that he is still consuming oxygen. While electing more real Republicans to both houses has to be a all-consuming effort, so too do we have to demand of these new folks ( along with those who are still there) that we are also demanding new leadership. The so-called “seniority system” needs to go away. There is absolutely nothing of value to continuing the notion that the “seasoned members” (read those lazy a$$holes who have lived off of us for dozens of years but have produced nothing of value) need to be the “leaders.” They are simply the ones who have tapped into the “big money” folks and are busily doing their bidding to our overall detriment.

While I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments, I believe the word “feckless” carries farther with the Gentleman from Kentucky than do profanities.

Just sayin’

This, of course, assumes the Senator’s staff reads anything that arrives via email, and that’s doubtful.

Not lately. Like really lately. Like over a hundred years ago lately.

The whole lot of them needs to be tarred and feathered. Nothing but a bunch of scum IMO.
