BS! Military service is no shield for poor character. You are falling right in to the libs trap.

Kerry served, but I spit on his veteran status because of his base character in inflating his service to further his political career. Same for Al Gore.

If you serve, and serve with good character, and live your life after your service with good character - I applaud you, I respect you, I honor you.

If you serve, but are of poor character, I respect your service, but I will not hesitate to point out that you are a person of low character - ESPECIALLY if you never shut up about your service. If you keep yamming about your service for your own gain, and then expect everyone to kiss your ass, I will verbally LIGHT YOU UP!

Mr. Walsh fell right into the libs trap.

Than is the point.

Kerry was proven a liar, dishonorable.

Can you say the same for Duckworth?

Being nauseating isn't justification, especially when we are talking about politics, to disrespect ones service.

Shooting down a person boasting about their service is for a picnic, not politics.

Exposing ones service portrayal, a la Kerry, is patriotic.

Do you really put these two in the same class? However irritating?

Giles: You got it right, in spades. Many of my friends, mainly Vietnam vets, don’t talk about their military service unless it is at a conference or in a political action group (such as the Swift Boat Veterans Against John Kerry, with whom I worked re their book).

These include several MOH awardees, many who were tortured by the VC and No. Vietnamese in So. Vn, Ho Chi Minh Trail, and the Hanoi Hilton.

My son is a veteran of Iraq and he didn’t talk much about it for years. Now he’s proud to be reunited with members of his unit (which won a Presidential Unit Citation for combat operations on the Euphrates River).

My father-in-law fought across the Pacific and was in the only Army combat unit (75th Jasco) that assaulted Iwo Jima with extremely high casualties. He never talks about it. It is the past to him and he feels he was not a hero, only doing his job. Three Purple Hearts say differently.

Duckworth is a hardcore leftist who exploits her injuries instead of her almost non-existent congressional record (other than being on the far-left,marxist/socialist side of the Democratic Party).

IVAW is an extremely far-left organization and featured a number of discredited veterans in its early years.

VoteVet, Inc. is also a leftist organization posing as a non-partisan group. They are so far up the Democrats/Obama’s ass that you couldn’t find them with a searchlight.

Walsh challenged Duckworth on her record. She got her leftists to cover for her lack of a noteworthy one. End of story.

“BS! Military service is no shield for poor character.”

Well stated, GilesB. All branches of service draw from the same population and, in many ways, have the same issues as the general population. Most are inspired and positively transformed by their military service. However, many are not and use their military experience and training for the wrong purposes.

Being a veteran does not automatically wrap one in ‘good intentions and results’.

My service? From Private to Major in the USMC.
