Horrendous wildfires. Oppressive heat waves. Devastating droughts. Flooding from giant deluges. And a powerful freak wind storm called a derecho.

These reporters must be young, too young to remember that we had all of these things going on back in the 1950s and '60s when I was growing up, except we called "derecho" strong winds. Don't where that word came from.

Still cooler here where I live than last year at this time, and the year before as a matter of fact.
