GRAND RAPIDS, MI Gov. Rick Snyder vetoed election reform bills that sparked angry protests and cries of voter suppression during committee hearings.
Snyder, in one day doubling the number of bills vetoed during his tenure, nixed bills that aimed to prevent voting fraud by requiring a voter to reaffirm U.S. citizenship before receiving a ballot and requiring photo ID when picking up an absentee ballot from a city office.
He also rejected a bill that would have required training for people, companies and organizations participating in voter registration drives.
Snyder in a release said he appreciates the issue of ensuring voters are eligible and U.S. citizens, but believes the bills would have created voter confusion among absentee voters.

Gee thanks a lot Rick. We elected a good secretary of state and an idiot RINO of a governor.

Our pet RINO picked a heck of a time to find his veto pen.
Thanks to RckyRaCoCo for pointing out the story.

Legislature should veto governor’s bills by refusing to pass them.

Sounds like Rockin’ Rick is an Illegal Alien Amnesty supporter, as well as a White Guilt Liberal
The only voter suppression done in Michigan was this governor vetoing a bill that protects legal voters rights

If Romney had any thoughts of taking Mish...fahget about it. Why does this veto necessarily mean that? The state legislature did pass the bill.Assuming that each legislator voted the actual wishes of his/her district that passage suggests to me that Romney might have a chance there.

He’s a typical Ann Arbor “republican”.
The academic set loves him.

Just a week or two ago the Rat Governor of New Hampshire vetoed a voter ID bill but the legislature voted to override the veto.So it’s now the law there.I wonder if the same thing could happen in MI.

...nixed bills that aimed to prevent voting fraud by requiring a voter to reaffirm U.S. citizenship before receiving a ballot and requiring photo ID when picking up an absentee ballot from a city office. With Republicans like this why chose from two parties during elections?
Any prominent dimocrats praise the gov for his actions yet?

The amazing thing is Mexico just had a national election, and everyone had to provide photo ID. That photo ID had to match a list of names with photos next to the names. THEN everyone who voted had a thumb or fingers inked to prove that they had already voted.
If Mexico can do it, so should we.

Don't know about the veto-override. But when you have a Republican Gov. with a Rep. legislature...why play freaking(compromise)games?
The left doesn't, why should the right always compromise? ....pass the damn thing and "move forward".
Every time the republicans capitulate the left smells blood and demands more, when are they(GOP-e)going to stop being the party of Charlie Brown kicking the football?

Vetoing a bill to prevent voting fraud in an election is an cowardly action that gives aid and comfort to the enemy. Michigan Governor Rick Snyder and his administration are now the political buttboys of traitor Benedict Arnold.
And don't expect the Michigan state legislature to do anything about it. Bend over, proles of Michigan; Dearbornistan will soon be your new capital.

Still better than that Canucklehead, Jenny Grandtheft. She’d have had revolving doors on the voting booths by now.

Anybody know if there’s anything on a resident alien diver’s license that says they’re an alien?
After all, us legals have to show an ID to vote in Michigan but aliens don’t?
