July 3, 2012 Romney Campaign Declaring Cease Fire on Health Care Posted by Staff
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court health care ruling, the early conventional wisdom was that an unfavorable health care ruling at the court would be good for Republicans politically, even as it was a serious policy setback for conservatives. But that's not shaping up to be the case. Mitt Romney, after giving a brief statement decrying the decision, has been virtually silent on criticizing the health care law. He's been on vacation and his campaign has been giving off clear signals that it doesn't want to make health care a major part of the election.
His senior adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, went on MSNBC Monday and ended up agreeing with the Obama campaign's spin that, even though the Supreme Court declared the individual mandate a tax, it really still is a penalty. Significantly, his campaign appears to want to take the most potent argument against the president on the health care subject off the table, likely out of fear the Romney himself is vulnerable when it comes to his health care record. He, after all, supported a mandate as governor of Massachusetts, and doesn't want that to be considered a tax, either.
I agree.
This is an editorial posted in Breaking News whose whole premise is that Romney isn’t talking enough about a ruling that most hated of a law that even more despise, netted him millions on donations in 24 hours?
I dunno but I hope he can raise his arms higher than his elbows.
You need to re-think the schedule. The new President is not sworn in until Noon...
(From 2010...add that to McConnell saying yesterday that he doubted they could/would repeal Obamacare)
Tennessee GOP Senator Bob Corker telling “high dollar donors” at a GOP event something prospective Republican voters will be surprised to hear:
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and his GOP colleagues have no intention whatsoever to repeal ObamaCare. None. Zip.
According to what the story says are “multiple sources,” here’s the skinny:
The junior senator from Tennessee told the gathering of donors not to worry about the incoming class of “crazier Republicans” because the majority of Senate Republicans, especially minority leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), had no intention of repealing the president’s health care bill. They instead planned to fix only the “bad parts” of the law, Corker reportedly told the group.
Get that? The Senate Republican Establishment is already actively planning to sabotage any effort by new colleagues colleagues they consider to be “crazier Republicans” to repeal the law that has infuriated a majority of Americans.
I seriously hate this piece of $hit! F'n ass RINO!
What ticks me off is that Laura and others on Fox was pushing for this a-hole and now that he's the nominee, we are stuck with him.
The GOPe did it again.
We are ovoioulsy going to have to drag this man to the presidency kicking and screaming.
It is my estimation that we should thou 527’s run a separate and effective campaign against Obama and where nessary for mitt.
As we speak the democrats are attempting to lay the political ground work on which they will politically justify using ugly coercive force to squash resistance to their lawless healthcare act.
If we can’t stop that many martiars will have to be made, and the public will be told that theses disorderlys must be punished for “the greater good”. Our rights in the near term stand upon a knifes edge...
He's already giving up.
The real objective here is to run the fascists out of the Republican party ~
He's a regular old 'reach around' sort of guy.
there are inaccuracies in your statement.
Mittens is a Mormon and they don’t drink alcohol. HA! :-)
It's good that he would do that. However, to send a real message he will tell the American people that he will move to fire the 300,000 plus bureaucrats hired to implement this monstrosity.
You see, I think Mitt knows Obamacare will NEVER be repealed. He is just giving us false hope. Nothing I read has indicated that there would be a move to eliminate the parasites hired.
Can someone who interviews the GOP leadership just ask, Do you envision the firing of the 300,000 employees hired to implement ACA?
Their answer will tell you ALL you need to know about the seriousness of the GOP-e intent to truly repeal.
On the other hand he does have true believers from Utah who think he's the dude meant in the "one mighty and strong' prophecy.
David (Howell) Koresh thought that's who he was, but Bill Clinton knew better. Granny Hollob told him 'bout it.
BTW, these people and their churches all have a close liturgical relationship with a failed attempt by two Russian Orthodox priests to Christianize the Laplanders in the 1500s.
Their beliefs regarding the characteristics of a Messiah are closer to that of an Arctic shaman than is usually realized ~ kind of a guy strong like polar bear ~ ready to eat them and tear up jack, but in flies a Santa Claus like figure with happy mushrooms.
They're out there folks ~ and I bet some of you thought the Raellians were bizarre. At least they went to a doctor for surgery preparatory to their journey to the mother ship ~ these guys don't really believe in doctors.
Yep. Does anyone think Romney WOULDN’T respond in a squishy, spineless, mealy-mouthed way?
If you do you are delusional.
Might as well save the campaign money Mitt - you just told the voters you don’t want to win.

His surrogates take the lead from him and he’s wrong! So are they.

Romney is so clueless. Repeal Period. Forget Replace.
Typical spineless politician that thinks government can solve all of our problems when most can be solved simply by them doing nothing.
Immigration reform? Shove it. SEAL THE FRICKIN’ BORDER PERIOD! Worry about the rest AFTER.
It’s going to be 2008 all over again.
Thanks primary voters (not).
“This, along with McConnells statement tells me all I need to know on what to expect from a Romney presidency.”
This bothers you?
McConnell still says hell do whatever he can to repeal the law.
If given control of the Senate next year, McConnell said he would support using budget reconciliation rules to repeal it. Doing so would prohibit Senate filibusters and require only 51 votes to succeed. In 2010, Republicans lambasted Democrats for relying on these rules to pass the health care bill, calling their tactics unusual and hyperpartisan.
Im confident theyre going to give us the votes to repeal it, he said of the American public.
On ObamaTAXscare:
If Romney refuses to complain,
Then the delegates must abstain.
[On the first ballot in Tampa, that is.]
Meanwhile, a Spanish-speaking two term Southern Republican Governor looks on...
‘Wait...Watch...and LEARN!’
—George HW Bush
‘You Betcha!’
—Sarah Palin
If it weren't for his proven vast history of political conservatism he wouldn't stand a chance as the Republican nominee for POTUS.
Crap! It’s like McCain all over again. Romney better get over this gentleman’s rules crap and start fighting like he wants to be a leader.
Sheesh!
I doubt there is any question regarding Romney’s ability to lead. He has had a tremendously successful business career as the head of a major acquisition and turnaround company.
