Police in Texas raided the home of Rep. Blake Farentholds sister, a local television station reported Monday.
KRIS TV reported that a SWAT team searched her Corpus Christi home, looking for drugs and weapons.
The police department did not immediately comment because officers were still in the field, an officer told POLITICO.
I am saddened to learn the terrible news of the situation unfolding around my sister, Farenthold said in a statement, released by his Congressional office.
Tragedy has occurred in my family in the past, and I am saddened it has happened again. I trust that law enforcement officials are doing their job and I support them carrying out their duty, regardless of where it takes them. I love my sister and ask for your prayers for her and the rest of my family as we work through this very difficult time.
Farenthold, a Texas Republican, is a freshman who snatched a south Texas seat in 2010 from longtime Democratic Rep. Solomon Ortiz.
Good response. Who can argue with that?
He didn't try to lie, blame George Bush, or cover anything up. This is what makes him different than a democrat.
If a cousin of mine has an abortion, it's out of my hands. In no way could I be blamed for what she's done. Blaming Bush for her abortion just isn't something I'd do. I, too, would ask people to pray for her.
No kidding. How do they known what kind of rifle might be used to shoot the ammunition? Something like .223 might be used in a bolt-action varmint gun. .30-.06 could be used in a deer rifle or a Browning BAR. No bias here. /s
Isn’t this a local police operation? I’m missing the part about Fedz being involved.
If I recall in the original report of his death/fire, the fire department ruled out foul play/intentional fire until the discovery of the bullet wound made them go back and take a second look.
Connected with City Hall people doing things they wouldn’t want to be caught doing. Roughly in the same time frame as the Lee P. Brown scandals (his aide was a bribed lobbyist in a national scandal played down as local corruption in each of the cities although they were interconnected and uncovered in a Federal probe).
