The Obama campaign has seized on remarks made by Romney adviser Eric "Etch-A-Sketch" Fehrnstrom this morning on MSNBC, to the effect that the individual mandate in Obamacare (and Romneycare) is not a tax. Fehrnstrom allowed Chuck Todd to push him off message--and re-ignited the fears that conservatives have long had about Romney's will and ability to fight. In response, conservatives--who had just coalesced around opposition to what many now call "Obamatax": Mitt, start fighting, or give up and let someone else do it.
Fehrnstrom's point--in defense of Romneycare--was that the Supreme Court was wrong to uphold Obamacare under the taxing power. The individual mandate was never intended to be a tax, Congress never called it a tax, and it wasn't a tax in Massachusetts, either. Fine--but now that Obama's lawyers went to court and called it a tax, and Chief Justice John Roberts called it a tax (and spare us the non-distinction between "tax" and the "taxing power") Obamacare is, undeniably, a massive tax on the middle class. Obama lied. It's that simple.
The GOP primary is over, and this is not a mistake that Fehrnstrom can merely shake away. It's going to be used--and already is being used--by the Obama campaign to save itself from the tax argument, and to label Romney as a liar (when that label belongs squarely on Obama, who campaigned against Hillary Clinton's individual mandate in 2008). Perhaps this is why Rupert Murdoch has been calling openly for Romney to "drop...old friends from [his] team and hire...some real pros," as he did on Twitter yesterday.

Since we’re making up all these questions, Tell me if you’d sign the following and put it on your home page...
“I, __________________, declare that I have decided that conservatism has failed and as such, I will vote for the Republican Mitt Romney, A man whose history I am aware of regarding his liberalism. It is with open eyes and no regrets that I will disavow everything I believe conservative ideals and the American Constitution ever stood for just to get Obama out of office.
Further, by doing so, I accept that I adopted the very things I formerly despised to get a liberal elected President and henceforth I have no legitimate right to ever be trustworthy again - since my newly adopted situational ethics allow me to bend like a twig in the prevailing political winds.
Signed, _________________________________
No? Why not?
Given that the choice for the next POTUS is between Romney and Obama who do you prefer? |
My Sgt/ daughter and Sgt. son in law aren’t voting for either of them. They are not alone.
Are you voting for Mitt Romney?
Is Mitt Romney a liberal?
Do you think you are the one special person who can vote for a liberal and still claim with a straight face that you are conservative in thought, word or deed?
Why do you think a conservative or a Republican who follows his/the Republican Party Platform can vote for a man who has not and call that a good idea?
On what planet/in what universe is voting for a liberal a conservative thing to do?
I answered your questions. Answer mine.
Personally, I HATE ALL POLITICIANS and SCUM that use taxpayers dollars to make those stupid, large signs.
And I don’t trust the ego of the “sign with 100 pens” people who are just proving they care more about the game than the fact the are supposed to govern and represent.
Romney is just another in the long line if egotistic monsters that only care about some silly kind of “legacy” that will mean nothing in 100-150 more years.
“I’m not liberal and I’m not pretending to be conservative. Nor are others who prefer Romney to Obama.”
Not the first incorrect thing you’ve said. I doubt it wiill be the last.
I’m now in the camp of letting things get so bad people will have to wake up and do something.
If that means another horrible term or Obama, so be it. The GOP won’t do anything to reverse this disaster so Romney will be worse that useless.
All the GOP will do is lenghten the time frame until doom. And not by much.
That's not true. I haven't asked questions, I've asked a question. And you haven't answered it, you've not answered it. Lay off the lame attempts at diversion. I'll ask again and if you don't answer again I'll assume I've got the message. Either Romney or Obama will be the next president of the US. Who do you prefer it is? |
Anyone reading this post will read posts where I have repeatedly answered your question. You just do not like the answer.
On the other hand, I have askes several questions of my own which you have ducked, dodged, pooh-pooh’d and otherwise did not answer. That is the exact behavior Freepers witness from liberals and Democrats.
Your actions on this thread define exactly what you are. If you were honest, you’d answer honest questions.
Since I will not vote for either liberal you mentioned, I cannot ‘pick one’ and have my answer make sense.
Now if you intend to vote for a liberal Mitt Romney and I intend to vote for a conservative, which of us is a liberal again? I’m not the slightest bit sorry for you or the fact that you cannot logically defend either your position or intent to vote.
Review my posts and you'll find one where I declare that, IMO, there are but three options for the patriot. Galt, advocate for revolution, or endorse Obama's opponent with vigor. |
“I declare that, IMO, there are but three options for the patriot. Galt, advocate for revolution, or endorse Obama’s opponent with vigor.”
You declare? Who gives a rats tail what YOU declare?
Seems YOU have a pride problem. I’m just sticking with my beliefs...which BTW fit your criteria for ‘Galt”.
Ping to self, watch video at home
I do, that's why I express what I think. I don't necessarily expect others to give a rat's tail, that's why I included "IMO." Adios my friend. |
“I don’t necessarily expect others to give a rat’s tail,..”
That’s good. Toodles.
You have been very clear with him. Why can’t he and people like him just accept the fact that Romney=Obama? They are both leftist, lover’s of big government.
Some of us just refuse to acquiesce to what the Republicans rammed down our throats this time... I’m done enabling RINOs. I will no longer vote for one. I’ll leave that line blank or write in a true conservative.
He and the ABO crowd can’t because to accept the arguments I and others have made would mean they would have to face the abandonment of the beliefs they have claimed they hold.
A conservative voting for a liberal is good for America? Electing a liberal id RIGHT for America? EMPOWERING a liberal is good for America? Only in Wonderland does that make sense. But Welcome to Wonderland Alice, because that’s the ‘logic’ they are using.
Murdoch is also a closet liberal....so that is a good sign he did not think much of Mitt
Murdoch supported the Liberal Party in Australia years ago...and actively pushed its candidate, Gough Whitlam, to become Prime Minister. Whitlam is the Father of Australian Socialized Medicine
You guys are clueless!
Romney came out within hours of the Court’s ruling and said he would REPEAL OBAMACARE ON HIS FIRST DAY IN OFFICE, if elected.
It wouldn’t have mattered if he’d spent the last 72 hours ranting and raving about the injustice of it all.
Because nothing he will ever do will be good enough for you.
Note: I said “will ever do”, so there’s no need for you to publish some sophomoric list of things you’d rather he do.
We understand how gullible you are.
After all, Bishop Romney has great hair.
BUT RomneyCARE is his prime achievement
other than gay marriage. HE IS NOT GOING TO
rid the country of his own, his own, his own, creation.
