Pepco has crews working around the clock to restore power knocked out by Friday night’s storm, but some customers may remain in the dark through the week.

Pepco estimates 90 percent of the outages will be restored by 11 p.m. Friday, a timetable Montgomery County Executive Ike Leggett called unacceptable at a news conference with Gov. Martin O’Malley.

"Nobody will have their boot further up Pepco's backside than I will to make sure we get there," O'Malley said about the July 6 timeframe.

Pepco president Tom Graham said about 343,000 customers remain without power as of noon Sunday. About 443,000 people were without power at the thunderstorm’s peak.

The company has 2,100 people mobilized for the restoration effort, including about 580 power line personnel expected to arrive Monday from Oklahoma, Florida and Georgia. Crews are working around the clock and in 16-hour shifts.

"Remember all the coal plants Obama shut down?"

Yep, I sure do. But his shriveled-up bony butt will always be comfortable, so what does it matter? /s

I don’t disagree. What makes me cringe is the weeny “I just can’t live without my air conditioning and satellite TV crowd.”

Suck it up and deal with it. Go sit in the basement where it’s pretty cool.

The seeming random nature of the inoperative traffic light is extremely annoying. I saw a Pepco crew replacing poles alongside Conn. Ave north of Kensington. They had at least wo more poles to replace that I saw when I went by.

If this helps anyone attempting to figure out when they will get their power back, the Olney/Rockville area got it late this afternoon.

Well, I’m sure they are out there, but I have not seen anyone. We got our power back at around one pm today, but no cable or internet yet. Over the weekend, there was not one monkey county or Rockville cop directing traffic at a dead light intersection. Today, state troopers were out in force. I have seen one Verizon truck but not one Comcast.
