It is impossible to even produce a net gain by extending universal health coverage to everyone. The poor and unemployed do not have enough money to pay for their health care. That problem still exists.

And it is always going to exsist.

And the only way to handle that in a fiscally prudent manner was to only have the poor use health care in life threatening situations. And in some cases, not use it all. To now give them universal coverage with no net payment, because a net payment is impossible, is to remove the fiscally sound barriers. They will be no net income from this. And if the feds take the penalty money and use it for the general fund, the insurers wont even see increased payments for their vastly increased costs. Insurers go bust and only the upper middle class and rich get health care.
