Interesting. Behind all the gobbledegook, the job description basically reads that a bus monitor is to look after the physical welfare of the children. In other words, make sure they don’t fall off the seats if the bus jolts or leave them behind at a stop. Nothing about stopping a situation akin to Lord of the Flies.

Arguably that ought to extend to physically restraining them from doing insane things, if possible... but what’s she going to do, clap her hand over ten foul mouths simultaneously?

Our crotchety old uncle does not appreciate the situation at all. Without support what in blue blazes is she supposed to do. He’s talking about what bus monitor might have looked like forty, fifty years ago.

I haven’t given her any additional funds because, in part, it seems she’s doing well enough now. But if I met her I’d tell her I was so sorry to see what happened and disgusted at the confluence of events that made it possible. NONE of which were HER “lack of guts.” She had no latitude to use any such “guts.”
