Well, the one pressing thing at the moment is that there is likely to be a repeat of last night’s Derecho today (probably earlier in the day here, and maybe not quite as bad.)

Wow, surprised your mother has no power - that’s Rosslyn, essentially city, buried power lines; that’s east of me. I would guess they will get power back there very quickly.

Dunn Loring - outside the Beltway I’d imagine that will take a while.

I used to live in that area. Problem is that even though a place has underground lines, there’s always some places around where the lines go overhead. Somewhere. And those are the weak links.

Hard to imagine that area without power. Driving around must be a nightmare. It was a nightmare when they HAD power.

Mother just got through on cell phone long enough to report power restored as of 1300 hrs. Land line still out. Still no contact with sister (her boy’s on a respirator).
