Cherie Blair attacks 'yummy mummies' who choose children over careers

The wife of the former Prime Minister also accused some young women of seeking to “marry a rich husband and retire” instead of working.

Mrs Blair, a QC and mother of four, criticised women who “put all their effort into their children” instead of working. Mothers who go out to work are setting a better example for their children, she said.

Addressing a gathering of “powerful” women at one of London’s most expensive hotels, Mrs Blair said she was worried that today’s young women are turning their backs on the feminism of their mothers’ generation.

Some women know regard motherhood as an acceptable alternative to a career, Mrs Blair said. Instead, women should strive for both.

“Every woman needs to be self-sufficient and in that way you really don’t have a choice - for your own satisfaction; you hear these yummy mummies talk about being the best possible mother and they put all their effort into their children. I also want to be the best possible mother, but I know that my job as a mother includes bringing my children up so actually they can live without me.”

The socialist red queen of one of the world’s biggest welfare states is telling married women to get out and work?

She ought to be telling that to the UK’s welfare recipients.

No, I don’t see it as an “acceptable alternative” to a career, I see it as the most important career I’ll ever have.

One of the most repugnant features of the modern world is that all traditional values - values generated and tested by centuries of usage - have been stood on their heads.

And, like this repulsive creature, a good many human beings have bought into the whole modernist fantasy.

As society continues to fall apart, however, it will be seen once again that traditional values, tested over time, are the strongest and best.

Let’s hope when the discovery comes, at long last, it’s not too late for the human race.

You know, you try to like Cherie Blair, because she’s Catholic, because her husband was so staunch after 9/11 (and long after) and then she goes and pulls a nonsense stunt like this.

Crikey (spelling?)!

Yeah, because there’s no better way for your kids to grow up properly then to shove a bowl of cereal in front of them in the morning and then whisk them off to daycare or school and then say Hi to them in the evening while they do homework and get ready to go to bed.

I’m not saying most working mothers do this, but her judgmental tone tells me she does. I’ve been a working Mom and a stay-at-home Mom. Only as a Stay-at-home Mom was I put down, told I was wasting my Education, etc.

Moms and Dads have to do what’s best for their family, some have to work, some want to work, some choose to stay-at-home. My husband and I have created a strange schedule but it works for us and we have lots of family time. Both my and my husbands moms stayed at home and between them had 10 kids, 6 girls and the girls as wells as the boys are all well adjusted, have good jobs if they are working, and do what works for their families.

I still wonder why men marry dingbats like this. The sex can't be that good.

That statement got me too. First, it’s none of her business. Second, raising children is no form of retirement that I’m aware of having done it myself.

It’s harder work than my paid job was as a television producer. And I wouldn’t trade it for the world!

So, a bad haircut is not the only thing goofy about Cherie Blair.

Hag. As a dad with a little one year old boy, I can say the greatest gift he’ll ever receive is being home with his mom. My wife being home with our boy has been an incredible blessing to our family.

The first time I saw this woman was picture of her standing in her doorway in a shorty nightgown after husband became PM. That is not a woman of character. That is a second class citizen.

What ever happened to the feminist movement, anyway? During the 90’s, Law suits involving “Sexual harrasment”in the work place became the most lucrative legal racket since “Whiplash”. Then the feminist movement came to the rescue of Bill Clinton after the Juanita Broadrick rape accusations. Ms Broaddrick’s reputation was thrashed day in and day-out, and it became clear that women’s organizations like National Organization for Women were were more concerned about legalizing partial birth abortion than Juanita’s black eye.

That is nice of you to say that and to recognize what a blessing that is. make sure you tell your wife what a blessing it is a well it will make her feel good and appreciated. I speak from experience as a mother myself although my daughter is 26.

Feminist tripe. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to marry a man and have him be the main provider.

Cherie Blair doesn’t realize that the stream of history has passed her by. It’s kind of sad.

As far as I’m concerned, the New Labour party brought in waves of immigrants to swell their voter rolls, creating havoc in that wonderful country. Tony Blair was the head of that party.
