The unforgiving Waldo Canyon Fire has claimed its first official victim, as rescue workers discovered charred human remains in one of the neighbourhoods consumed by the flames – one of 346 homes destroyed so far in the worst fire in Colorado’s history.

Large suburban homes have been reduced to little more than smouldering ashes, as the more than 35,000 evacuated residents come to terms with the severity of the fire, which began nibbling at the south-western fringe of the U.S. Air Force Academy campus.

Amid the devastation, President Obama is planning a visit to the state to survey the damage, meet with firefighters, and tour the ravaged zones of one of the nation’s most tightly contested political swing states.

Obama will do anything other than talk about his health care law and its epic tax increase between now & November.

It must be hell for these leftists not to be able to do the Icky Shuffle on the Constitution. You know they are dying to.

“Large suburban homes have been reduced to little more than smouldering ashes..”

These fires were intentionally set in order to burn out people in large suburban homes of people they know would not vote for Obama.

I live in Colorado Springs, and our local news stations have provided excellent coverage around the clock since last Saturday. No drama, no speculation, no filming of sobbing people; their coverage has been calm, factual, and professional. I give them major BZs for it. It compares very favorably with the maudlin, speculative, and exploitative coverage being provided by the national news shows.

As for the Kenyan, he flew in for a photo op and a statement today, and I’m sure the vast majority of residents, including our elected officials, couldn’t wait for him to leave again. This is a conservative town with thousands of military families, and the people standing around him during his photo ops would almost certainly vote for a beer can rather than Obama in November.

On a sad note, it’s confirmed that two people died in the same residence in the burned-out neighborhood, Mountain Shadows. Apparently they didn’t leave when ordered to evacuate two days earlier, and paid the ultimate price. The fire came into town so fast on Monday night that if they realized their error, they didn’t have time to escape.

Must be a swing State. Definitely wouldn’t help Texas, Mississippi, or Alabama.

Shame on you for such a wildly irrational and irresponsible statement.

As Obama sightsees overhead in this key swing state and surrounds himself with first responders for campaign-ready photo-ops, his supporters on the ground are busy spewing excuses, attacks and death wishes on their political opponents. I know.

I’ve received countless numbers of them hoping that firefighters let my “mansion” burn down and gloating that God or karma is punishing Colorado’s conservative population. Liberals took to Twitter to bash local GOP officials and me as “fire retardants” who should be dropped over the blaze. And jokes about Colorado social conservatives like this proliferated: “If this Colorado fire takes out the Focus on the Family campus, then God really exists.”
