The overwhelming majority of the taxes involve a resolution of custody ~ in the favor of the other parent. The guy or gal who lost custody ends up holding the bag when it comes to taxation since they lost the deduction for the kids FOR PRIOR YARS.

These disputes can continue for years and years and someone can build up a substantial tax debt in the meantime.
