Senate Minority Whip Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., questions Attorney General Eric Holder during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Capitol Hill in Washington June 12. Photo Credit:AP/J. Scott Applewhite Sen. Jon Kyl (R-AZ) floated the possibility of impeaching President Obama over the administration’s recent decisions on immigration, during an appearance on Bill Bennett’s radio show on Tuesday.

Responding to a question about the Department of Homeland Security’s decision to pull back “on a program known as 287(g) — which allows the feds to deputize local officials to make immigration-based arrests” — following the Supreme Court’s ruling invalidating substantial sections of Arizona’s SB 1070, Kyl said the president must be held accountable:

"Now if it’s bad enough and if shenanigans involved in it, then of course impeachment is always a possibility."

The problem is that he cannot be impeached since he not eligible for the office he holds...unless we all want to pretend he is. He deserves to be arrested for treason because he forged the documents (birth certificate ans selective service) to provr his eligibility. Liar, cheat, phony are all words, there are more, of course, that describe this piece of garbage that used to float through the sewers of Chicago.

How about we start impeachment proceedings against the Roberts majority for exceeding their constitutional authority in the Obamacare case!

Nowhere does the constitution empower ANY court to re-write a law as this bunch did! NOWHERE!

It may very well be justified but it’s a distraction that will confuse the independent moron vote: Why are the Republicans trying to get Obama when the economy’s such a mess? At least Obama’s trying... (shudder) I can just hear the idiocy now.

Forget all this stuff with Congress. The governors of conservative states need to get a backbone and say “NO!” to Obamacare and “NO!” to the federal government in general.

Nullification now! It has worked in the past, forcing the feds to back down, and it’s the only thing that will work now. We cannot depend on the spineless wonders we send to Washington.

It doesn't matter what Jon Kyl says anyway. He sometimes talks tough but as we saw in the Bush era immigration fight, when it came to standing up and voting, he was AWOL.

in all seriousness, we need to start a grass roots movement of “Impeach Roberts”. His opinion is utterly lawless.

I would encourage very freeper with a Republican representative to run in the next cycle on one issue: Impeach Roberts.

For many of us, the next cycle will be 2014. There might be a few late state primaries, though, that could squeeze it in right now.

Before running, I would encourage all activists to try to make an effort to see if your existing Republican member will introduce articles of impeachment. (Of course they won’t, because they are cowards). But I suppose you owen them that courtesy.

Yes, you will likely lose. But if by the end of the 2014 primary cycle we have had 200 plus candidates run in the GOP primary on the “impeach Roberts” agenda, that would be a strong statement.

Extreme? Desperate? Yes.

And these are desperate times. What happened yesterday is beyond anything we’ve ever seen.

It’s time for us to out Alinsky the left and the cowardly right.

It could not come soon enough - even though the Senate will not convict, cannot the House bring up the articles of Impeachment and have the trial?

BRING IT ON - America needs to be made aware of all the malfeasance this usurper is involved with - the media will be forced to cover an impeachment. There are far too many sheeple in America sitting on their couch at 6 and 10pm getting their non-news from the alphabet channels and all they hear is what a magnificent job their savior is doing for them.

Should have been done after innaguration, about time, perhaps someone has a pair and cares about the country, not just what is politically correct..he should prove he is a natural born citizen, he should be restricted in his executive powers which step across the lines of balance of powers, he should be held accountable for fast and furious, racial divide and hatred....list goes on forever, mostly crickets chirping

The problem is that he cannot be impeached since he not eligible for the office he holds...unless we all want to pretend he is.

The fact that he was elected and given the oath of office is an implicit admission of his eligibility by those who would have to vote on impeachment. They've accepted him, they'll have to accept their new responsibility of impeachment. He's impeachable.

You are probably correct, because it would take almost a full rebellion against the federal government (keeping the state’s tax monies at home), and I don’t think anyone has the guts for that.

So, what, then? Time for the young folks to find another country? It’s too late for old fogeys like me.

Ref post #1.

You have said what I have been saying from the start. Thank you.

He is not eligible for the office he holds; therefore, he cannot be impeached.

He can, though, be arrested and frogmarched directly to jail like any other criminal.

It would be far, far easier to impeach and remove Kagan for failure to recuse.
