A top surrogate for President Obama insisted Friday that the individual mandate in the Affordable Care Act was not a tax — despite the fact that the Supreme Court narrowly preserved the law on those grounds.
"Don't believe the hype that the other side is selling," Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick told reporters on a conference call.
"This is a penalty," Patrick said. "It's about dealing with the freeloaders."

What he is saying is don’t believe your lying eyes. The Supreme Court validated the law because the mandate is a “TAX”. Democrats are in denial because they know that word spells “defeat” at the polls.
According to the SCOTUS ruling, it’s a tax and therefore must be administered/collected via the IRS, which would likely require modifying the tax code via Congress - not likely to happen.

No it’s not a penalty or a tax it is mental illness. The Supreme Court rules it a tax and what does the left do? They say “no it’s not”. Good grief.

Fine, go back five years, and penalize everyone who has received medical services on the public dime. Give them fines, taxes and jail time. There is nothing stopping the federal government from doing it.

The Fed "owns" 1/6 of the economy. What makes anyone think they won't flex their anti-Constitutional muscle and go for 1/3 or even half of the economy? Its central control and what the left loves most.
I can see a day at this rate when fedzilla is going to tell people where to live. Make too much money (well, allowed to keep that much money after fedzilla?) and you might find that home you wanted out in suburbia does not meet central commands control of the economy.
