ACA's biggest flaw is the assumption that the millions of poor folks or nearly poor, including illegals, will rush to buy health care insurance. They will not. Instead, they will resume their visits to the emergency room and trash the bill when it arrives in their PO Box. As for a penalty tax......forget about that too ! These folks live mainly off the grid and many like it that way. Nothing will change for this vast segment of society. It will be business as usual.

Off the grid....As in they want voting rights but have no legitimate photo ID and like it that way. Or are not even in America legally.
On the grid middle class private sector people are viewed as jokes and suckers. They pay the bills (via taxes) for this rising class of leeches with flat screen TVs, new automobiles, free Gov’t cell phones, and no visible means of support. They are working the system to the max via SS disability etc

The individual mandate does not apply to people who do not pay taxes nor to illegal aliens.
Those who do not pay taxes (about 50% of the US population) have no reason to pay for insurance—they will be able to wait until they are sick and then they will get subsidized insurance.
Illegals are not eligible for the exchanges or subsidized insurance. So they will just keep going to emergency rooms.
IMO, everyone has GROSSLY underestimated the net cost of this program.

LMAO! Health care premiums under ObamaCare are simultaneously more affordable and more expensive. The Liberal/Progressive capacity to reconcile inherent contradictions is truly amazing!
Expanded Medicaid was supposed to cover about 20 million people nationwide. The cost of this will be mostly bourne by the states two years into ObamaCare. The court says states can opt out of expanded Medicaid without penalty. This may be as many as 26 states initially. (Medicaid accounts for a large part of state budgets and is stretched to the limit most places.) I assume the the 10 million or so clients this will exclude from expanded Medicaid will be enrolled through the insurance exchange. Since they have little or no money to buy insurance their policies will be heavily subsidized.
This will create a disparity in contribution between participating and nonparticipating states. This will cause the participating states to opt out causing a huge funding problem.

I think illegals are exempt. They’ll continue to get their healthcare the old fashioned way. Through the ER. This was one of the purposes for obamacare, to get working folks to help pay for the illegals at the ER.
The lines at the VA will get longer as the hospitals are turned into “obamacare health stations”. So, us vets will now get even more screwed while sitting with the illegals.
Obama doesn’t believe that. He wants single payer, nothing more nothing less.
The same way the “poor”, aka, the inner-city tribes and illegals, will get Medical coverage the same way they always have: someone else will pay for it, Insurance Companies and Doctors will lose NOTHING, because TAXPAYERS will be forced to pay for it all, for others, as usual.

After a recent major health crisis, when I got the bills and saw what MEDICARE paid the doctors and hospital, I was embarrassed.
It is a mercy they even treat any of us.

You’re probably right; now when you have an infestation of illegal invaders the emergency rooms shut down (happened in my town, and I understand all over southern CA as well). The reimbursements to the hospitals for “alien-care” kept dropping, so the hospital had to close the emergency room. If ObamaRobertsCare will pay for them instead, they can be re-opened.
I’ve stated on other threads that the Democrats HAVE TO nationalize these issues so that business-friendly/taxpayer-friendly states stop gaining electoral votes at the expense of the socialist sh!tholes; ObamaRobertsCare is simply another step in that direction.
As much as this ruling and law are a disgrace, I think the abortion issue is much more important (and related), and moot as long as the legalized discrimination of affirmative action is allowed.
It's the same situation for Tricare patients visiting a non-military health care facility.
If the doctor's bill for the service was $75, the Tricare reimbursement would be about $20. I have seen physicians participate in Tricare for a few years and leave the system.
I wonder if we'll ever get real health-care reform. Instead, what we keep getting is the politicians meddling and making it worse, which leads to more meddling, making matters even worse. We need better.
real health care reform would be letting people keep enough of their own money to pay their own doctor blls directly, not having to rely on insurance for petty stuff and preventive care
Instead of insurance, maybe set up a low cost govt loan program for people who face major medical bills, let them pay it down based on income
Put the money in tha hands of the consumer and let them shop for health care like they shop for other services

Obamacare does for doctors and medicine what No Child Left Behind did for teachers and education.
Docs will be paid for “performance” irrespective of the patient’s willingness to cooperate w/ treatment. Got an overweight diabetic who just won’t quit smoking? You’ll not be paid for seeing him more than once. Got an elderly stroke patient? You’ll not be paid for seeing him since he will no longer “contribute to society”.
2010 was just the beginning imo. People are pissed. People I spoke w/ at lunch yesterday who I NEVER knew followed ANYTHING were livid... talking about “have you ever been to a tea party meeting? When/where is the next one?”
I think this is a wave on top of the existing tsunami. I hope.
