Consumer penalties: Part of the controversy surrounding health care reform was that the law would mandate coverage for all Americans on pain of penalties. Those penalties will be tiered and rise over a three-year period that kicks off in 2014, according to the National Association of Consumer Protection:
2014: Families$285 or 1 percent of total household income, whichever is greater. Individual adults$95. 2015: Families$975 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater. Individual adults$325. 2016: Families$2,085 or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater. Individual adults$695.

Thanks for posting. There are some good links in the article.
I will not pay the Roberts Tax.
Don’t forget drones
Unfortunately it will be my Dad and his wife. Might even bitter comupance.
Can’t believe the man who taught me why it is good to be a Republican turned Democrat years ago.
I just found this ought when I was discussing the ObamaCare.
Seems he and his wife switched parties over....get this....The Clinton Impeachment issue.
They actually think the guy was impeached over a blow job.
I explained it had nothing to do with it, so much as it had to suborning perjury for which he was fined and barred from ever arguing in front of the Supreme Court.
Smartest man in the world, to me, and he didn’t understand this?
Weird.
Then again, I guess all of our parents are weird.
We weren’t bamboozled.
The libs took over our government and forced their 50 year wet dreams on us.
We knew this was going to happen.
I’m just stunned the court upheld it. But now that the court has, there is no limit to anything liberals want to do.
You are casting a very wide brush lumping all legal immigrants in with those in a program you mention. Most legal immigrants do not get government assistance or come here with their last dime in the pocket.
I have direct first hand experience on this subject. The requirements for legal immigration are costly, time consuming AND require the ability to show financial wherewithal. Legal immigrants are not allowed to collect social security until they have worked for 10 years.
Most legal immigrants come to this country, work hard (as in bust their butts to get ahead) and pay lots (and lots) of taxes.
You may have a particular problem with one immigration program but it is very unfair of you to cast all legal immigrants into that group. It is also uninformed. I certainly welcome you to correct me where I am wrong and I would expecially like to learn more about the programs you talk about that provide cash assistance to legal immigrants. My guess is that is for people claiming refugee status but again it is good discussion to have and I sincerely would like to have those details.
“Starting in 2014:
Based on your income, it appears you would be eligible for Medicaid beginning no later than 2014. The law expands Medicaid to all individuals and families with incomes at or below 133 percent of the federal poverty level. But the court found that states cannot be penalized if they decline to comply with the expansion, raising questions as to how effectively the federal government will be able to implement it.”
And what about income either zero or below poverty level, but with lot’s of assets (e.g someone that’s earned a lot of money and “retired” at a very young age.)?
2015:
Families$975 or 2 percent of income, whichever is greater ($81.25 per month).
Individual adults$325.()$27.08 per month)
2016:
Families$2,085 or 2.5 percent of income, whichever is greater ($173.75 per month).
Individual adults$695 ($57.91 per month).
Looks like the cost of this program escalates quite rapidly.
Heck, my Medicare part D costs more than that.
If that's the max penalty I'm dropping my insurance. Would save me hundreds/month.
