That is what happened to California. Tons of people came from new york and California went from a conservative state to a socialistic state. That isn't what happened to California, what happened to California was the growth of Catholic and non-Protestant voters which turned California into a permanent blue state.

Yes but before that is what really mattered. It was the influx of people from back East mainly New York when they came the state allowed the influx of the others you are pointing out.
