Too good. when I was in the Army, in 1969 in Korea, I got issued a box of ‘Cs’ [we were on patrol] that had been boxed when my Pop was in the Army - in 1944. Bet you there’s a whole of of those beauties stashed somewhere, and ready to go.
I saw my share of C’s in training in 68 that had been in storage since WW2 also.
Makes one wonder exactly where we are heading in the country: cannot stop illegals from coming in, cannot deport them, cannot limit what goes out for food, cannot deny housing assistance and cannot force anyone to work.
We no longer have too few pulling the cart, the cart is now sliding backwards over the cliff.
In 1997 I watched our Supply folks on a Cruiser in Mayport carrying up meat stamped ‘Not For Human Consumption - USDA’. Nothing but the best for our troops.
I also ate C’s in Vietnam, and the last time about 1975 when LRP’s came out. And yes, I recall the date on the ones in 75 were in the 40’s. Our Cav squadron had a whole warehouse full of them, and just left them abandoned on a target island in the pacific.
I miss the C’s, wish I could have some now.
MRE’s suck.
Anyone know a source for C-Rations?
Hell! I’m pretty sure the DMZ is still littered with “Ham and M-f*ckers”, date nut roll, and beef aus jus, which smelled suspiciously like dog food
Serving the same vintage in the Corps in late 70's.
