When I learned about how the government works in 7th grade, I was taught that the Vice President did most of the real work, not the President.

They really taught that? That's absurd. The VP doesn't do jack.

Yes, and I learned a lot in that class. The VP was essentially the one that did all the leg work and the President was pretty much a figure head just getting briefings. Things may have changed from the Nixon era. I’m sure that class contributed to my being on FR.

In college, a roommate came back from her first test in a government class flaming mad. The questions weren’t about what they’d been studying, but about things like “who’s the Attorney General, Speaker of the House,” etc. I just looked at her and couldn’t believe she didn’t know.
